Re: Cub Cadet 147
Mark Holliday owns it. Big Swift guy. My Dad moved up to a 180 HP Comanche when he started flying for work. I’ve seen pictures of that one lately and in is in disrepair. He was known to do his share of loops and rolls also. Kept it at a grass field. Belly landed it once. Called a tow truck. They lif...

Re: Cub Cadet 147
My Dad owned Swifts back in the day. The first was a GC-1B. It had a 125 Continental in it. The second was a GC-1B built by Temco. It had a 145 Lycoming in it. Both are still flying. The second one now has a 210 Franklin in it.

Re: 129 =Time for a new Engine
I’ve never used them but plan to in the future. Know a couple of people that have been happy with them. And they’re only an hour away. They will rebuild your specific block if you want. I’m going to have them do the original engine from my Dads 122. I will drop it off and pick it up to save a little...

Re: Hole on inside of intake manifold
If it has that l shaped lifting bracket on it maybe it goes there. Don’t put sealer on the bolts. Clean the bolts and the holes. Put some oil on the bolt threads and torque to proper torque in the proper sequence. Run the engine for half an hour or so under slight load. Let it cool all the way down....

It’s called HyTran Ultraction now. From what I have read the newer fluids are compatible with all of the older ones. I buy Mastertran Ultraction from a New Holland dealer. Same stuff and cheaper.

Make sure those nuts don’t hit the tank. The originals were thinner. My studs were also a little tall. I trimmed them. Are you going to run a heat shield?

Re: 126 repower
2 1/2 sounds right on the studs. The 122 uses 5 studs. 3 for the tank mount and 2 for the heat shield. The length of the bolts will depend on the head. Low boss used shorter bolts.

Re: mower deck rebuild
Those holes are for a deflector for the chute. Most people take them off and pitch them because it clogs up easily. A mulching plug can also be installed there. I’ve never seen a factory one but I made one that works well.

CC Specialties has them for $55. Patton Acres has them with wheels for $110. If you go that route I can snap some pics of mine. I like them on there.

Run it and check the oil everyone before you start it. See if you are losing oil. Excessive smoke from the breather could certainly be blow by.

Belt should be 1/2 x 85 1/2. Is your engine RPM at spec?
