The NF and WF/82 series axles are totally different, but you can use a (complete) WF axle on a NF if you use the WF drag link.

It's not metric...either you have some worn-out allen wrenches or there's dirt or rust in the hex that's keeping the proper one from fitting. Or it's stripped.

If you switch the pump without switching reduction gears, the gears won't mesh properly and you'll break something. Don't do it.

The stock clutch is not strong enough for a 16+ hp engine, IMO. It will slip in 2nd and 3rd under a heavy load.

Not a single one of those things belongs in a Cub Cadet transmission.

Use Hytran (or 30W gear lube if it's a gear drive).

The brush kit doesn't include that piece. I think your best bet would be to put in a want and and see if anybody has a junk starter they can take one out of.

I'm pretty sure both of those are physically larger than the D600/D640, so they aren't going to fit well if at all.

I'm still trying to figure out why several people in this thread are discussing battery-ignition coils when the engine in question has electronic ignition. All of this resistor vs no resistor talk has nothing to do with the original question :?: That doesn't even apply to your tractor.

You should ALWAYS check the oil before starting the engine, regardless of whether it's a Magnum, KT, K-series, etc....how else will you know if it's low or full of gas?

That looks very nice, but I would re-think the use of stainless steel bolts in areas where Grade 5 bolts were originally used since the SS bolts only have about 60% of the strength of the Grade 5 bolts you've replaced.

I suspect you need a new breather assembly...that's what happens when they fail, and these engines are notorious for that.

I think BM is right and you're overreacting. I did a little googling and found an MSDS for a particular brand of motor oil that states that the boiling point is greater than 599 degrees F. If the oil got that hot, your engine would have seized or blown up, and the oil would have melted right through...

If you want to replace the bushings with roller bearings, you'll have to change the axle tubes, too. The OD of the bearing and bushing aren't the same.

Re: HELP, my 1650 rear end locked up

Does it roll at all, or does it act like it is totally locked up? It should roll even if the release valves are not working, but it'll roll hard. If it's locked up, something in the hydro pump probably broke, which is extremely uncommon.

When I went through my 1872 2(?) years ago it was still available. I've been hearing 'NLA' all over the internet for a year, but yet it still shows up as 'available' on the CC parts lookup website. You'd think they'd update that if it was NLA. Anyway, next time I need one I'm using a Hub City 0332-0...

Re: New guy and 1772 driveshaft questions

The hole in the coupler is supposed to be 1/8". Check to see if the coupler wobbles on the input shaft. If it does, replace it. Don't bother with the setscrews. If there is play in it you may wind up with it slightly misaligned by using setscrews to tighten it up, which means the vibration will stil...

Re: New guy and 1772 driveshaft questions

Yes, the rear coupler is worn out. Time for a new one. The holes should be the same size, so if they aren't, the coupler got loose in the input shaft and wore out. This is why the driveshaft is wobbling.

I suspect that would probably change the location of the spirol pin hole for the spring; you can get around that by using a locking collar instead of the spirol pin there, giving you some adjustability.

If the driveshaft is moving back, you might need to add a 5/8" steel ball like the earlier 82 series and QL gear drives had to prevent that. I had the same issue with one of the 582s I built until I did that.
