New to me Cub Cadet 86

Hey guys, haven't posted in awhile. Been pretty busy between work and rebuilding the motor on the Farmall M. Did manage to pick up a Cub Cadet 86 back in the fall, and after some fixes it needed, have a solid little tractor! The key way was missing on the crank so the pully and basket weren't held i...

Re: Cub hauling trailer

Cal, I just sold my PJ that I had bought several years ago and it was powder coated. All in all, it was holding up pretty well except for 1 area. Inside the channel frame rails, it seems like the powder coat didn't cover very well and there was definitely some surface rust in there. The rest of it d...

Re: Repower 782 with M18

Mike, there should be a slot/bolt hole in the right side of the fire wall that the filter mounts to. Swap the 782 fire wall with the other one and you should be good to go!

Re: Cub Cadet 73

Well, I decided to go the heli coil route and it worked very well. Everything went pretty smoothly...something I'm not used to! Finally have just about everything finished, governor is set and running like a champ. Finally put the ags on it and should be good to go! It's been a fun project and as al...

Re: Cub Cadet 73

Just wanted to update everyone on the 73 project I've been working on. Got the motor installed, everything wired up and ready to roll, only to have an oil leak issue. Pulled the motor, fixed the leak (needed a new gasket on the oil pan....used Permatex instead!), got it re-installed andk got her run...

Re: Cub Cadet 73

Oh and dag, as far as the monstrosity on the front, I'm assuming he put it on as a bumper of some kind. The bad thing is, it won't come off without being cut off the mule drive. Unfortunately, that's going to happen in the next couple of days because I have something else to go on the front of this ...

Re: Cub Cadet 73

Hey guys, thanks for the compliments! Everything on the tractor is in fact original, except the fenders, 3 pt and light panel. The seat is in amazingly good shape and has never been repaired. The best I could find out, the tractor had one owner for nearly all of it's life. He mowed with it for years...

Re: Cub Cadet 73

Made a lot of progress over the last week. Pressure washed and degreased the whole tractor, man what a difference! Picked up a headlight panel, put a set of fenders on it and started putting the 3 pt on (still need to add the lift bar). Have gotten everything off of the old motor and started assembl...

Thanks Tom! You know how it is, projects just keep coming around! I'd like to say it keeps me out of trouble, but that's not really true! lol Dave, I have to admit, I've always liked the 7 hp line, either with or without fenders! This one is now sporting a set of fenders and headlights to boot...

Cub Cadet 73

After pondering it for awhile and finally seeing one come up for sale, I decided to pick up a Cub Cadet 73. There are a couple of reasons for it, but primarily my first Cub Cadet was a 73. I had an opportunity to purchase my original 73 a few years back, but the tractor was no longer in the conditio...

Re: THE 3240 thread

Here's a couple of plow day pics of the 3240. Even got ol' Vince out there on her! The 3240 definitely held it's own with all of the other tractors, and there's nothing like setting the cruise and just going along for the ride! Was very pleased with how it did overall! Re: 1572 rear end

Since you are that far, you could also check around to find one that's not broken and replace as well. I found my adapter house for $50, tore down to where you are, reassembled and back in the tractor. Just keep in mind, it has to be the house for a Super as the gearing is different between the stan...

Re: 1811 back from the dead

What you can actually do is buy a 3 pt hitch for a 782 with the Frankenstein bolts and buy the lower bracket from xtreme motorworks designed for the aluminum rears. It will have 2 tabs that attach to the axle tubes as well as the back plate, which I've heard of people having good luck with. The 782 ...

.....and another one shows up! How does this keep happening???? Picked up this 1812 the other day. It's a one owner tractor that's been taken good care of over the years. The original owner was replacing the drive shaft and just never finished putting it all back together. His nephew had another Cub...

I would have to agree bb, Joe has been sucked into the 3k world never to return! I'm glad you're getting to put them to use. Now you need a front blade so you can have the best of both worlds! Only takes a couple of minutes to switch so the same tractor will run both...

Brinly Cat 0 Plow

Does anyone have pics of the correct set up for a Brinly Cat 0 plow on a Super? I have everything ordered to get my plow put together, but can't find a manual for a cat 0 plow, only the sleeve hitch plow. Any help would be appreciated!

Re: 1772 updates

Dave, I know what you mean about the price....tires are just too darn expensive!! These are 4 ply and I've had them awhile. They were originally on my 982 and I used a loader with it, never had a problem with them at all. 8 ply is overkill in my book, I'm not sure you could overwork a Super to that ...

Re: my new toy

Good suggestions Tom. I wasn't at all suggesting braces weren't an alternative route to go, unfortunately I don't have the ability to make them myself and I felt it was important to start with a solid housing first. I do like the idea of Permatex #2, I hadn't given that any consideration when I rein...

Re: Need measurements for 190-413 weight bracket

0202161640-1.jpg Ok, here you go. There are 2 widths...between the nuts that are welded on is 13 1/2 in, the overall width is 14 5/8 in. If I'm not mistaken it slides into the frame rail and is bolted from the outside. The overall length is 15 1/2 in. The height where it slides into the frame rail ...

Re: my new toy

I didn't use additional braces when I fixed mine. I swapped out to a good, used housing ($50) and when I reassembled everything I used the red Loctite to ensure the bolts don't back out, especially where the front mounts are. This is what usually causes the mounts to break in the first place. I will...

Dave those are Carlisle Tru-Powers. I've gotten to the point I won't buy anything but Carlisles anymore, with the exception of V61s to go on the front.

Tom, don't we always take on more work???? It's really about the seat time, not helping anyone else!!!
