Re: Can someone talk me out of buying a 71?
Well, if nothing else, maybe I could use the one from the deere to trade for one from a Cub Cadet.

Re: Can someone talk me out of buying a 71?
I'm going to ask the guy a couple more questions tomorrow about it. I got to looking at the picture again, and someone tell me if I'm seeing things, but is that a pin sticking through the side of the frame under the seat... holding the 3 point casting in place? If it has a 3 point hitch, I'm pouncin...

Re: Can someone talk me out of buying a 71?
Here's the link to a picture of it. Is it worth $175? The last time I bought non-running Cubs, I bought 2 for $250 and they just needed wiring harnesses and the carbs cleaned. http://evansville.craigslist.org/grd/3993804211.html

Can someone talk me out of buying a 71?
OK, here's the deal: I found a 71 for sale that's in pretty decent original shape, but has a busted rod. It has no headlights, fenders, or 3pt hitch, but does have the 38" cast end deck. Tires appear to be original as well. I got the guy talked down to $175. I was shooting for $150 if the engine pro...

I have one of those ground wrenches in the "cub drawer" of my toolbox, too! Great minds think alike.

Re: Home made scarifier - would it work?
You may have to play with angles or add weight, But I don't see why it wouldn't work! I'm in the middle of making a rear mount box blade, and have robbed 7 or 8 teeth from an old harrow that was in the junk to use for a removable scarifier.

Re: Driveshaft drilling jig
Pretty slick! I always envisioned making one where it's just 2 v blocks forming the 2 halves. I've not made one yet, but only because I haven't needed it.... yet.

Re: PLEASE HELP!
The bushing in the clamp gets worn down or falls apart if it's plastic. Here's a trick I did on a 149 once: Cut the neck off a .50BMG case, cut 1/8 to 3/16" out of the side and put that in as the bushing. That brass piece is still in granddad's 149 and it still takes a nice firm push or pull to swit...

Re: Trunion Repair
Getting ready to do this on Dad's 105. It's worn almost all the way through at the corners. I already have the rear end pulled, just gotta get Dad to the Cub dealer for parts (like a new rubber drive disc, for one). His was so bad that the end caps to the spring are gone, along with one of the snap ...

Re: Cheapest place to get T/O bearings?
This bearing lasted about 150 hours...
Now, Lakota has some that are chinese for $36, and I talked with them a while back and they said they were holding up better than the Cub Cadet bearings. Anyone else tried one of these? That's probably what I'll end up with, since I'm broke as a joke.

Cheapest place to get T/O bearings?
Hey guys. The throwout bearing decided to take a dump in my 126. Where's the cheapest place to get replacements, and do I have options to use as a replacement? They look an awful lot like a $3 pump bearing, but I don't know if they're made differently on the inside. The cheapest I've found is $36, b...
