Let's keep this the donation thread, move driveway discussions back to the winter thread.  We're not that strict on post placement here, but lets keep some small amount of order!

Re: Winter Snow and Storm Pics

Hi Steve, I hope you've been well, apart from the snow/mud fest!  Some pics of that carnage would have been good here! I've used Copper-Nickel for brake line quite extensively, it's the only way to go.  So nice to work with, bends and flares easily and no corrosion worries.  Stainless is hard and di...

Ah, D2, thanks for reminding me of Mike's healthy slap at dag there, I'd forgot to acknowledge!  Mike, the helmet or the straightjacket, one of them is missing!

D2, there's some things that meds just can't fix!

Re: First mow pics

I've been among the lame with posting anything useful lately, so here's me trying to do better!  I've not been good about participating in dag's "first mow" pic fest, so I'll get in the game here... Not first mow yet, but I was heavy into cleaning the yard this past week.  Unfortunately, "loaders" g...

Guys, forgive my delay, but thanks for stepping up with the donations.  Even the $10 donations add up, greatly appreciated.  As has been mentioned, we also need some interest in posting, but it really does take both.  Without the donations we can't pay the bills and there's no place to post.  Withou...

Re: Cub Cadet 2284 wont stay running and running out of options.

Dave C. makes an excellent point.  Every Cyclops needs all the electrical gone over.  These troubles can be difficult to trace, and they can change with heat.  If a connection is suspect, disconnect, clean and be sure to coat with dielectric grease before putting back together.  Dielectric "Tune Up"...

Re: Cub Cadet 2284 wont stay running and running out of options.

Hi Ethan, and welcome to the forum! Guessing will make you crazy, better to do some real troubleshooting.  You can't easily troubleshoot something that is currently running, so you'll have to be prepared when it acts up again.  Remember, assuming good compression, all engines want to run, they just ...

Ken's driveway is like an old friend who was always very sick every winter but has vastly improved lately!
Who wouldn't want to hang out on Ken's driveway after seeing it here for so many years?

Re: Donations needed

Thanks to everyone that has donated so far in this cycle!  With just a handful of people we are currently within $40 of our current funding need.  Just four more people at $10 each will get us there, but I hope we surpass the needed amount. Also note, we took in nearly double the donations needed in...

Dennis, well said regarding the fact that something can be of very high value even if you don't use it often.   As for costs to run the site, there is information in the previous donation "sticky" topic from 2022 at the top of each sub-forum.  On the bottom of the board's main index page there is a ...

Ken - I was going to comment that your driveway looked pretty good even before you spread out the stone.  I hope that's still true after you deal with this snow!   Now an interruption as a moderator... Please note the new donation request at the top of each sub-forum.  If we can't keep Dave C. in th...

Well, although we've not many posts recently, I still like to drop in and banter with the other few misfits and keep an eye on Ken's driveway and ham radio collection!  You'll all have to decide for yourself if it's worth dropping a few dollars in the hat.  I think for the numbers we currently have ...

Re: Cub Cadet 2284 Hydraulic Issues

Hi Chris, Welcome Aboard! There is only one "vent" for the transmission/rear combination and that is on the top of the differential all the way towards the rear.  That wouldn't leak unless you massively overfilled it. I suspect you are referring to the check valves at the top of the actual hydro uni...

We're terrible... this was nearly a semi-useful thread about a parts washer and it devolved into our typical clown show!  But, the fun is too hard to resist.

Wow, definitely dredging up some old banter here!  That was a fun thread, I had to reread it to remember the "pasteurized oil" joke by BM, that was gold! On the serious side, I'm still thrilled with my "overly elaborate project".  After all these years, no noticeable evaporation and it's always avai...

Mike - You did a fabulous job!  It really looks nice.  I'm not a fan of the government forcing us to take electric over gas, but nothing wrong with choosing it for yourself for the right application. Ken - These aren't my thing, but cool to see and follow.  I'm amazed at what a hot mess they look like inside, even after "restored".  No breadboard, no order, just a jumbled mess of soldered connections in free air!  They have to be terrible to trace out unless you have real tribal-knowledge of the...
