Yeah, I was going to mention that almost every seal uses CR numbers and they are usually stamped on them, but I figured he wanted to order prior to teardown.  In the link I sent to IHCCW you can actually see in the photo that the CR number is stamped on them.  I don't think these seals he is selling...

Hi D2.  IHCCW still shows them in stock, reasonably priced at $10 each.  Those part numbers also cross to IH 381721 R91.  It's possible that although Cub stopped selling but they might still be sold by Case/IH.   I'd expect it would be easy to find a common seal at NAPA using a Chicago Rawhide numbe...

I absolutely agree with Ken, staking permanently compromises the front cover while not addressing the clearance issue.  Permatex #2 would also be acceptable for coating the outside diameter of the seal.  Either one would do the trick.  I'd also caution against using a pipe that is too small in diame...

Nice, always feels good to make them right again.  I just helped a buddy a few weeks ago pull his and change the magneto and he did his leaky seal at the same time.  His was loose in the bore as well, came right out with the pick just as yours did.

dag, you know CPVC wouldn't hold any substantial pressure.  I'm guessing that's being used as an electrical conduit for wiring, perhaps to the rear work light.  Any tasteful and useful mods I'd leave, but that CPVC is hideous, that needs to be done a different way!

Good stuff Ken.  I like how you did this one, built like it was but with more reliable innards.  Covering components with the old paper tubes seems a waste of time to me, nobody can see them anyway.  You're preserving the build and functionality but making it more reliable.

Yeah, I missed that, nice catch.  Definitely need to remove the mule drive if you want to access the center drain plug.  Good catch.

It's not but a few minutes to remove and reinstall mule drive, no reason to have in your way.

No, not necessary to open more than one, although depending on the angle of the machine, you might get slightly more out of one than another.  If using the front plug under the pto, I'd drive the rear tires onto 2x4 blocks, but that's splitting hairs as compared to committing to regular oil changes....

Do they have one in the middle underneath like the Magnum 18?  That's the one I find most convenient.  It's just a pipe plug in the middle of the bottom of the crankcase, might be easy to miss if it's a flush plug covered with dirt.
