Re: Hydro pump, pic heavy
Nice pics Vince  We tear down those hydro gear pumps and wheel motors etc. at least once a week or once every two weeks sometimes more often. We've never had a failure at that hour level however. They are really neat for those that have never had one apart, I never thought to take pictures. Do...

I went today turn out for the pulling was good. I saw Howard and chatted a while. Pulled my 123 Hydro in the 1000lb single 16hp stock class against some much more potent tractors and managed to drag the sled 65ft or so until I broke traction. It was a good time can't wait to take the 126 next year.

Re: Ted lost a blade
Glad that thing didn't tear anything up Bill. We had a Ferris in the shop not long ago that had the blade broke in half right at the bolt hole. DR said he had never seen one do that and stay attached to the spindle or the spindle to the deck, especially with the rpm's these modern mower's are spinni...

Did you see the one down by 66? I was on business and went through there heading up and over towards Ft. Allen and saw it sitting down in the yard and didn't have time to stop, I did have plenty of truck and trailer for the job to bring it home, The boss would have been confused since we didn't have...

8.25 chrysler was never a drop out axle. Only 8.75 chrysler was dropout, I think the 7.25 chrysler may have been drop out as well in a car application. Big Dodge Trucks had different types of dropout axles in the 40s, 50s, and 60s.

Re: Waukesha Engines
Waukesha engines also powered many fire trucks. A friend of mine just finished cutting up two junk trucks with spicer 5spd automatics and giant 1100 cubic inch Waukesha gas 6cyl's. One didn't run and the spicer was junk, I think the other truck was operational minus the pump and a junk rusty tank.

Re: Carb ??? hints tips ??
By changing the gap of the points your effectively changing the timing correct? I know when I got my 123 it was running extremely hot with a burnt valve as well. We richened the carb and correctly set the points and it runs wonderfully now after replacing the valve.

Cub Cadet 123 Charging Problems
I just finished up putting new valves in my 123 and some other miscellaneous repairs. I had rebuilt the starter a month or so ago and put new brushes in it and cleaned everything out in the case it looked great inside aside from the bearings and brushes. Any ideas of where to start with my charging ...

The meetings I was talking about weren't a "protest" but to protest your individual assessment. I'm just happy that I live in Westmoreland County. I have several friends that were hurt by this reassessment, allegheny county is driving people out slowly but surely. Between the drink tax, and this rea...

Re: Hourmeters ( maintenance minders )
My 123 doesn't have an hour meter on it, however, I'm the third owner and according to the service manual the brushes in the starter generator should be checked every 500 hours and replaced when worn to half. Mine were worn to almost nothing, so I'm assuming my Kohler K301 has well over 1k hours on ...
