Re: Got 109 running one problem though
First adjust your PTO clevis so the PTO Rod isn't touching the PTO button when the PTO is engaged and the engine isn't running. With it running and the blades are still turn the PTO 3 screws aren't adjusted or the PTO needs rebuilt. It might be hard starting if your PTO isn't disengaging also. it i...

Re: Electrical
If you run your tractor at half starter and ground the field with a jumper the engine should bog down from that load on the generator. If it dose un-hook the + cable from the battery and it should keep running at half throttle. If it dies the Voltage Regulator is bad. The output of the VR is 13.5Vo...

Re: Electrical
okay i got the 109 running, put a different starter generator on it. now it runs , so i tested the output of the starter and it only shows 0.6 volts DC. Now of course the starter side works but the output seems to be bad. i went to my 147 cranked it up and it sayd 9 volts DC wide open. is that the m...

Greetings from Florida
I have been on this forum for a while and I have not posted a lot. This one is easier to navigate than the other 2. I was raised on a cub cadet whenI was a child , well mostly mowing my grandparents property. So I naturally being almost 40 now have an interest in restoring and collecting. I own 147,...

Is there anyway to run a 147 without a starter generator?
Can you run the tractor without a battery?
When running without a battery would any of the components provide voltage to the coil?
i want to be able to start any of my 4 cubs with a rope and dont want to have to rely on a battery.
Thanks

My question is the following. 1. do i need to remove the transaxle from the tractor to repair trunion? 2 is that what is making the tractor have erat...

Re: electrical trouble shoot help
so does the generator provide enough 12 volt output without the battery in the system. i know with most older car engines if you disconnect the cables from the battery and it goes dead then that means the alternator is dead, if it stays running its charging. just curious. thanks

electrical trouble shoot help
I am very familiar with 12 volt systems, most in large car stereo systems but I am trying to learn how trouble shoot common electrical problems on the cubs as I now have 4 of them. ok my 147 runs when jumped off but when I remove the positive of the battery it goes dead. Does that mean the battery i...

Re: IGNITION SYSTEM
That helps out alot. So the magneto just supplies the electrical for firing of the engine correct or does it output enough to charge as well. The odd thing is I have a 12 volt background and I have been in several magazines for products that I manufacture. But learning about these things is abit dif...
