Re: SPRING SIZE FOR 451 thrower

I have a 450 and have a limitless supply of springs.....leftover from my kids old trampolines. They fit very well on my 450, which I believe is identical to the 451 in that area. Just an FYI for others who need the spring and have gone thru a few trampolines with their kids.

Rear PTO, tiller and 1862

Ok, I know that they did not make a rear pto or pto tiller for the 1862, but if I'm not mistaken, it has all the components to work. I have a Ruegg 3pt hitch on my 982 along with a rear pto and a 442 tiller. I'm wanting to move it all on to my 1862 (downsizing). Extrememotorworks makes the liftbar f...

Re: Directional Switch, 433 SGT Rear PTO

I got my rear pto last year and didn't understand exactly how the rear pto switch was supposed to work. Looking through the manual, I found the same info, that the switch actually chose which PTO was being used. When I picked mine up, the guy tried to give me a headlight switch (from ????), but I kn...

Re: 982 roller

I've bought from Jacks for my 982. Prices are reasonable but shipping isn't the fastest. Not bad, but don't expect in a day or two. My 982 was surging early last year also and it turned out to be a leaky intake gasket. I sprayed carb cleaner while the engine was running and located the general area....

Re: 442 Tiller Manual

Scott - I saw the same thing about packing the grease half way up the chain cover when I downloaded the manual. I haven't removed the chain cover as of yet. I do have the cover gasket on my list of needs, but haven't picked one up yet.

Re: 442 Tiller Manual

I called Bush Hog when I got my 442, and they confirmed to me that they were the manufacturer. You can download the manual from their website. I had the same thing happen to me after I stumbled on a 982 that I picked up to sell, then I came across the 442 and rear pto, and then found that Ruegg made...

Re: Red Cub Cadet 982 Stories

Mike - good to see you over here!!!! To make your pic's smaller, you need to go into your photo software (Camera mfg or windows photo editor) on the computer and edit the photo. There should be a selection for "resize". Make it smaller and then save it with a new name. When I bought my 982, the guy ...

Re: Red Cub Cadet 982 Stories

Mine is an early CCC 982 (SN<720,000) with the CI rear end, dual brakes, 50c deck, and some CI wheel weights. I picked it up a little over a year ago. Had to replace the front bearing gasket due to a leak, remove a few broken bolts in the axle tubes, and then I found a rear PTO, PTO tiller, and inst...

Re: 450 snow blower

According to the manual, the impeller gear box (rear) takes 8 oz of Plastilube (pn 737-0133). I could only find this at my local cub dealer and it was expensive ($18? for 8 oz tube). The main gearbox (front) takes 4 oz of Shell Alvania Grease EPR00 (pn 737-0168), again, found at local cub dealer. No...

Re: 982 Project

Well, I don't know what I'm doing. Mine does have the IH cast iron rear. Thought about the aluminum rear end mainly because of the rear cover. If I could figure out how to make my rear cover accept the rear pto, then I would go with that setup. I'm almost thinking of converting it to a diesel since...
