Re: 1641

Post the kind code/serial # off the id plate, we can then tell you exactly what you have and when it was built. The 54" deck is larger than you would typically get with a 1641. Usually had a 44GT or 46" hi-vac deck for use with a bagger. You probably have an 1863 with 1641 side panels- not a bad pro...

Re: My First 1650

I believe the change at s/n 482k was to the 'quick-stop' style pto brake with the fingers. This would have been about the same time as the debut of the 'A style' decks, labeled 441U11x or 501U11x in their first appearance...

Re: Snow Thrower question

Albie there is a good chance that there is a pivoting bracket on the thrower that is not in the correct position. I have seen this twice on QA42A's that wouldn't lift. I can help with pictures tomorrow as I just put my new one on my 149 today.

Re: New Arrivals

Ok well is that pipe thick enough to braze or should I really look at just replacing the line? Either way, I'm glad its not the cork gasket that's leaking!

New Arrivals

Well it's been a busy Cub fall here in central Maryland. I've been sucking up all the leaves with the Peco vac on my worker 149. It's been getting a workout twice a week, weather permitting, which it likes (all Cubs do!) and has made the annual fall cleanup ritual much more enjoyable! I had picked u...

Re: Considering Deluxe Cab for my 149 - opinions?

I bought the cab. The doors are fine! There is one tear in the viynil that drapes over the hood, but it's not bad. The rest of it is in really good shape. The back plexi-glass is just dirty and will clean up with soap and water. I'm going to look at a 1000 this morning (one of those come-and-get-it ...

Considering Deluxe Cab for my 149 - opinions?

A Deluxe Wideframe Windbreaker Cab has been listed for a while and now the price is too low not to look into. I won't know for sure what kind of condition the vinyl sides are until I see them in person. The front glass and wiper look ok, but the rear glass or plexi-glass is very cloudy. I wonder how...

Field Terminal on S/G

What is the purpose of the field terminal on the S/G as it relates to the voltage regulator and charging circuit? I see that it seems to have about 2/3 of battery voltage most of the time. My 147 is not charging after I replaced the ignition switch and I am trying to make sure I have a complete unde...

Cub Cadet 73

I picked up my first 70-series Cub last weekend. I was looking for a 72, but this 73 with fenders was literally right around the corner. I could have driven it home if it was running. The PO quit using it after the throttle linkage around the governor arm fell apart. I put it back together and put g...

Re: Trunion Repair

I am submitting the following as my entry for worst trunion of 2011. This is on a one-owner 1450 that my friend just aquired. We already have the new iso mounts and ridgid engine cradle installed (Patton Acres, thank you) and are waiting on a cast oil pan for the AQS as the original one was in bad s...

Re: IH-490489-R2 Belt

I went in for a new belt for my 123 after the current one had just plain worn out after all these years. I too noticed that he new one was much thinner, but it had the correct # on it, so I took it home. I installed it and ran the deck for about 30 seconds and it inverted in the engine pulley. I too...

2084 Super Cub running rich

Hi All- I have the oppsite problem of the other post- my 2084 is running too rich following a float rebuild kit and replacing/resurfacing the cylinder heads. I also have a 'modified' shut-off solenoid, as my tractor had been sitting for 2 yrs and I had to trim the plunger to get fuel to flow. I get...

2084 On the Mend

Hey All- I've been busy with RR work, but have been wrenching on the 2084 every chance I get. The motor work is done, the blown gasket side of the Command was just about as blown as you can get, I'll post a pic of the head gasket in a later follow up. It was open to atmosphere just below the exhaus...

Re: My first Super: uh-oh, blown head gasket?

Tom- the joint looked good and was sealed with the original zip-tie. it had good clean grease in it as well. I will probably try to get the stripped one out at some point during the repairs. I'm a little apprehensive about opening the boot up, there was no freeplay in either end of the driveshaft, s...

Re: My first Super: uh-oh, blown head gasket?

Finally got motor out today. Frank, thanks for the info on the CV joints on the ends of the driveshaft and the last two engine plate bolts. That is just the kind of info that this site is great for! I put the rest of the allen screws back into the flywheel and left the CV boot alone. I was onto unbo...

Re: My first Super: uh-oh, blown head gasket?

yikes- trying to get the engine out has been working me over... not nearly as simple as our older Cubs! I've got everything disconnected except for the last allen-head bolt on the driveshaft - stripped! I don't know what setup is under that rubber boot around the front of the dirveshaft, but I can't...

Re: My first Super: uh-oh, blown head gasket?

**update** I took the needle valve out of my compression tester and turned it into a compression maker by hooking it up to my air supply with about 30psi. The suspect cylinder was indeed leaking horrendously right next to the exhaust port. I could even see where the gasket had failed and feel the ai...

Re: My first Super: uh-oh, blown head gasket?

That's what it's all about, Tom! She cleaned up pretty well, and it IS growing on me! The power steering and that big tractor feel is not something i'd normally 'throw away'... Maybe I can start tearing into the engine this weekend.

My first Super: uh-oh, blown head gasket?

Hey gang- picked up my first Super on Saturday. It's a 2084 with 564 advertised hours on it. I basically saved it from the scrap man as it had been sitting outside for over 2 years unused. I paid market rate for the 54GT deck which was stored inside and is in great condition, and there was a pair of...

Need NF Hydraulic Lift Installation Manual

Hey all, looking to drill holes in my 123's frame for the hydraulic lift pump. Since the Registry burned down, I don't have access to the installation manual that specified exactly where to drill the holes. Anyone have this on PDF or know what the measurements are?
