Re: 42" deck parts list

I generally use partstree, but they don't have theseen mower decks on there. I even tried searching after Tim sent the parts numbes, and the parts don't come up. I have never used messicks. May check them out in the future.

Got my parts today with no trouble. While I was there I asked the guy if he could make a copy of the diagram and parts list for me. He was happy to oblige so I have scanned it and made a pdf. Here it is...

Is there anything readily available to replace the filter without ordering one for $12 from partstree?

Valve spring retainer

Ok guys, I need some help. I'm trying to remove the exhaust valve from a k301. I can't for the life of me get my mind around how to get the spring retainer off. What is the best way to get it out?

Re: 126 dead in the water

Does anyone have instructions on how to disassemble the creeper? This is where the problem is. It is locked up and shaft will only turn about 1/4. I have removed the fork, handle, collar, and the large snap ring on the outside. Now I just can't figure out where to go from there. :banghead: :banghead:

126 dead in the water

I need some help guys. While mowing today my 126 has just quit pulling itself. All seemed fine with a newly rebuilt clutch, until I sgifted into reverse. Clutch is engaging and disengaging fine. Engine acts like it is under a large load but there is no movement. Tractor has a creeper installed.

Crankcase vent

Does anyone ever change the filter in the crankcase vent? And how tight should the mounting bolt be? Dad has got a 149 leaking some oil around the vent and has found that it and his 128 took 'several turns' to snug up the bolt. Thanks in advance folks.

Re: New shoes for the 126

It's sad what some people will do to avoid a little work. Probably wouldn't have been much harder to take the shaft out right than to do that to an innocent tractor. When I got it the 'pins' were 1/4" soft bolts. Also had an extra hole in the shaft, drilled right through the original one.

Re: New shoes for the 126

Not for me they didn 't. Mashed the fire out of a finger using screwdrivers and a tire spoon. Ended up trading out some welding service for a neighbor to mount them with a machine.

New shoes for the 126

Finally got around to installing a creeper drive on the 126 workhorse. Rebuilt the clutch, put on some fresh bettery terminals, and slipped on some new shoes.

Re: 126 blowing sparks

Thought I'd update on this. Been working a bunch the last few weeks (sorry for the lack of response Ken). Got the engine fins cleaned and was able to reweld the shifter cup and get it reinstalled. Mowed over 3 acres this weekend and everything went great. Engine ran fine and the shifts were tight an...

Re: 126 blowing sparks

You got that right. I'd never alter my 126s. Way to hard to come by. I was checking tonight and looks like in neutral the shifter only cleraclers the pan by 1/2 inch, so no 1st and 3rd. Back to the drawing board.

Re: 126 blowing sparks

The ones on my 126s are straight and the older ones bent. I think I'll leave the bend in it. I wish the other yellow 126 had the bend, might keep me from hitting the non-original seat.

I had a spare rearend I picked up in a bundle. It's from a 1x4. Looks very similar except for the extra bend in the lever. Got new pins, retainers and spring coming from partstree.

Re: 126 blowing sparks

Thanks for all the tips guys. I'm fairly convinced it was the fins now. She started losing oil real bad last season, thought it was burning off, but it now looks like a leak which had completely filled the front fins and then some. Got it all off and seems to have run fine. Now to fix the oil leak s...

I need a little help guys. My 126 has started acting up pretty serious. After about 20 minutes running it begins to lose power then will try to stall and finally blows sparks from the exhaust. I am hoping this is a simple fix (like points). Any ideas or help, please send them my way. Thanks in advan...
