International Harvester M1 Garand

I picked this up in the mid 90s for cheap from the DCM ( formerly Civilian Marksmanship Division ). This was when it was a total "crap shoot" on what you ended up with. In my paperwork I included a hand written note asking for either an International Harvester or a Harrington and Richardson and than...

Re: Hardened driveshaft?

Glad I could help. They make fancy file kits that will only cut in specific hardness ranges but they are a few $$$ Although everybody wants "super tough" and high strength material, sometimes it's better to use something on the "softer" side as that material absorbs shock better and will slightly de...

Re: Hardened driveshaft?

Ken He said the finish was not polished. He also said something about the hardening was 1/32. Something else about the holes shink a bit so the spiral pins might be hard to install. I’ll try the file test tomorrow. Do the file test. If it cuts, you'll be fine. If it "zings" and knocks the edge off ...

Re: 147 Drive Shaft Part Identification

I can make a new driveshaft for you. Also check the rear pump coupler for excessive wear where the 3/8" driveshaft diameter fits in. At the engine, check to see if the drive hub is still in good shape. Once the driveshaft starts wobbling, it wears the slots. It would be more cost effective to replac...

Re: '66 Cub 102 questions

Pretty much any NF attachment will fit. You can ever use the quick attach attachments but you will have to bolt them on ( no big deal, the holes are the same). One winter I had an engine problem with my 125 and put my QA-42 snow thrower on my 122. Bolted it up and off I went.

If decide you want to upgrade to a CV driveshaft, I make the adapters you'll need plus can shorten the CV driveshaft to the length you specify.

One year I was clearing snow and found a 1/2-13 bolt in the driveway. When I got to a heavier snow area, I found out where it went :o

Re: Cub Cadet Snow Blowers

I’ll stand by what I said about light fluffy stuff best for the single stage. Wet is no good! If your using one as your primary snow mover, like ken said have a Plow on another. Not sure where you are in VA but the closer you are to the ocean I’m guessing the water/faster melt. You might be able to...

Re: Cub Cadet Snow Blowers

Imho Single stage bowers are a pain! From what I hear/read they only work in the dry stuff from the mid-west. They sure as heck don’t work on the graveyard wet stuff in the north east! I should add that I only used a Qa42 once on a hydro lift 125 about 20 years ago now. I switched to a Plow after o...

325 / 374 mower deck spindles

Turned a piece of 4130 steel alloy 1228171851-00.jpg Plus drilled and tapped both ends, cut a 1/4" keyway and drilled a grease hole. 1230171920-00.jpg 1230171920-01.jpg I also made ...

Maybe you need a different size O ring. What size is the groove and the bore?

You can also try http://www.mscdirect.com and http://www.mcmaster.com for O rings.
