Re: Need PTO parts for my recent 2284 purchase

From the looks of it in your picture, you need half of the rear PTO clutch, driven hub assembly, belts, tension sing and the rear cover plate. Parts can be found, but will take some time and will be pricey. You may be better off finding a rear pto complete and using the parts you need and save the r...

Thanks for all the compliments guys!

Tom - I will contact Jess and see if he has more lenses. I would like to fix that one up on left. I think its messed up from fueling the tractor over the years.

Re: 2182 Rear PTO and 3 PT Info Needed

Looks like I finally wrapped it up! I had to fab up an extension for the down stop rod. The rear PTO cover plate protrudes out farther out the back of the tractor than the standard hitch plate, thus the original rod was about 3 inches two short. Some measuring, threaded rod and a coupling and we are...

Re: 2182 Rear PTO and 3 PT Info Needed

Not to worry, I will be putting some pictures up as soon as I get a chance to work on it again  I have had both the 4 wheel white 374 ad Yellow 325 Haban decks in the past, and logged many hours on both units (this was in the mid 90s). Performance on both I remember to be the same, but the yel...

Tom - Thanks for the info on all this! I will definitely keep you posted on how it works out. It will be a handful of days at least for completion of this project as I have been working on this as time permits. I see in the pictures that the rear cover plate on your tractor has the hole in place as ...

Tom- Thanks for posting the link to the service manual! I would not have guessed that switch to be in that location, but that location makes the most sense. I have the factory switch but will ponder a day or two on my options with that. After reading your past tread on the switch, one thing that is ...

2182 Rear PTO and 3 PT Info Needed

I recently acquired a nice 2182 Super from the original owner. Tractor is exceptionally nice as the original owner only had a100x100 suburban lot to maintain. This tractor will be a keeper for me so I am in the process of adding a cat 0 3pt hitch, as well as rear PTO. I currently own several 3pt/ re...

Re: 2182-2: "An Incredible Cinderella Story..."

I was discussing the set up on these rear ends with a friend of mine who worked at our local CC dealer for quite some time before going off and starting his own shop. He said most of these rear ends were set up too tight from the factory. This leads me to believe two things, either the quality contr...

Tom- I never suspected that housing was cracked like that. Guess you really cant tell until they are all torn down and you can really see. I had to replace the front cover on my 1772, and it was not too awful of a job. When I put mine back together with the new front housing I used the original size...

Re: 60" haban deck hanger

The 374 and 325 Haban decks use slightly different undercarriages. All the 374 decks are the earlier white decks. I assume your 325 deck is the later yellow deck, and the rear stabilizer set up is different. The older white 374 deck uses and additional stabilizer bar at the back of the deck which is...

Re: New guy and 1772 driveshaft questions

For whatevever the reason the 1772 is hard on the drive line. Like everyone has said it is important to replace every worn part when rebulding the drive line. The drive shaft itself is also prone to wearing at the end, which sounds like you have already discovered, and the rear coupler is also impor...

Thanks Jess thats excatly what I was looking for. I am not sure exactly what I am going to do yet on my 982. Jess- did you need a 1872/2072 drive shaft to put the Mag 20 in? I assume you just swapped in the Mag with the engine mount plate attached. How did you get around the ingition change from battery to magneto? I know on the old site there was posts and discussion of installing a relay.

Re: Super Garden Mule Frame

Mule drive and sub frame for a 50" deck are the same for both a regular GT and SGT. The difference being the hangers up to the rockshaft are longer on the SGT, and the subframe is attached to the mule at the rearmost set of holes in the mule. Usually they can be had very reasonable, and the deck han...

Re: Old trucks... lets see them!

Nice looking truck BB. I had a blue 98 that I bought new. Give the running boards a chance, in addition to getting in and out, the more importantly save the rockers doors and cab corners from abuse from road debris, salt and such. They make a big difference over time. You can put flatbeds on pickup ...

I have a good friend who is a mechanic. He bought my old 93 Chevy diesel back in 02. He still drives it to this day, and has redone the top half in it. It runs better than any 6.5 I have ever seen. Mechanically the truck is perfect, interior perfect, body shot. He still works with me and plows snow ...

Even without the ac, that truck still may be the way to go. I dont know what they guy is asking for it, but by the time you build that olf 77 the way you want it chances are you'll have as much or more in that than the 98. The 98 will be much more powerful and smoother running as well. I had a 98 K3...

Re: Old trucks... lets see them!

1987 was the first year fuel injection was introduced to the Chevy full size truck line. However not all of the trucks were fuel injected. All of the 1/2 tons 4.3 v-6 305 and 350 v-8's were injected. Not all the 3/4 and 1 tons were injected however, and most of the 4 wheel drives were still carbs. T...

BB -I think the front axles in those old K series trucks are basically the same SRW or DRW. Should be a simple task to make it "correct". There are lots of parts floating around for that vintage of Chevys. It will make a nice truck when its done.
