progressing along... got the other front tire pressed on tonight, never again... 80 tons the last 2", on a hand pumped press with a 3' handle, its a major workout... the old thing rides so soft now - these oldies actually have leaf springs on the rear axle, that combined with the wider/smooth tires,...

I think I'm almost ready to assemble the dash and tower. This little yellow strip was hanging over my head for the past year. I didn't get fancy, I thinned down the paint and used a foam brush. It's basically hidden because the side engine covers but does show if you look for it. The dash tin clean...

chains are for smaller tires, might do the sheetmetal screws like i used to for my quadracer...the old tires with chains beat my back up pretty rough riding...since then though i flipped the seat spring 180, rides super soft relatively speaking. even chainless, the chevron treads did pretty well, on...

what are you trying to do? if wanting to attach from one side, self tapping screws, or riv-nuts would be best, be sure to use a star washer on at least one bolt to help ensure a good ground...sorry if I'm misunderstanding the "anyideas how I can do this?" question...

how often do those dual brake pedals show up on ebay? anyone know if one of the caps with the gage in it will fit a old 72? I see them listed for a lot of various tractors, but noone mentions the thread size... looking at one of these style- http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fuel-Gas-Cap-Gauge-Cub-Cadet-White-Lawn-Tractor-Mower-/121256168765?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_...

I like the fenders! Also like the bulldog on the hood. Thanks for sharing! thanks- the bulldog was my old buddy Don's doing- if you'd have known him, it was very fitting... he made it to 90 yrs old, was putting a roof on his 2.5 story house when he was 89, cancer finally got him...the kids and I su...

got the fenders mounted- temporarily in black just to cover the bare metal... made 10ga sideplates/and flange- the flange mounts via seat tower and side plates by transaxle bolts, pretty solid, no more feet in the tires :) gonna make a box for he rear between fenders eventually, and add lights soon....

I'd say just pull the head and be done with it - its easy, and you will be able to get all the likely aluminum corrosion off the chamber/piston face, clean up ridge that might be there, etc..., and really clean up the valves...our old cub had both valves stuck after sitting a few years, popping them...
