Are you sure that is a series 1?The spec decal on the frame indicates the eng.has been replaced at some point. If you remove the oil fill plug you can see the gov.gear, turn eng. by hand and look for damage to gear. Also look at lower right corner of block beside the dipstick to see if you have a threa...

Re: Trunion discussion again......................

The springs are there to cushion the forward to reverse action. If you made it a solid connection you would have a very jerky hydro,i worked on one that was solid and it would pop wheelies and snap your neck if you were not gentle on the control.

Re: 149 hydro control leaver

Take your tunnel cover off,you will see the linkage coming down from your lever. Some of that series has a pinch bolt at the bottom of the stem, there is a nylon bushing at that point,if you cannot tighten your pinch bolt and get friction back on your lever you will need the bushing. The other style ju...

Don't forget to cut the bottom holes in your side panels, the 1572 and 1772 had the lower holes to help get the heat out of the eng. area better.

Re: Todd Markle's 'Cub Cadet Diesel Starter Upgrade'

I just had the same trouble on my 1772,got tired trying to deal with it and put a new orig.design starter on and it works ex. I think maybe the after-market suppliers of the starters are getting lax in the quality control?

Re: 54" WF snowblade mod

I've seen a couple that they just cut the gt subframe and added a piece in the middle to lengthen it. the 982 orig. had it's own mount for the IH 54in. blade, it was angle iron and went clear to the rear axle for the rear mount.I'll try to get a pic. of mine. You will have to get used to running your...

Re: Cub 127 Front axle problems

Have you tried heating it? sometimes there is a little gap between the axle and the cap that is pinned on,spray lots of pb blaster or other penetrant and get everything you can to move a little, the pin and cap are probably both worn some making it even harder to drive the pin out. also, make sure i...

Re: 2182-2: "An Incredible Cinderella Story..."

I would have it welded. If you want to make it indestuctable, buy extreme motor works rear end torque arm kit, they can be used to fix this problem even if the mounting ear is broken clean off.

You will have to remove the pulley to take it all apart anyway, sometimes the bottom cup is siezed to the shaft by removing the pulley you can then get everything to come apart.

Re: Mule Drive Question

if you mount a mower from one tractor onto another even using the same mounting frame you may still have to adjust the hangers and front lift eyes to level the deck because of wear on the tractor lift arms and different tire height.

super rearend swap

I've been working on a 1772 with a busted up rear today. I had an 1811 rear sitting here so thought i'de swap it in. got everything tore apart and found that the super has a 10 tooth pump with a 68 tooth reduction gear while the 1811 has a 12 tooth pump and a 66 tooth reduction gear. Re: 149 new to me??

before pulling the engine take the belt off the starter gen. and make sure it spins over fast like it should when you hit the key. Do you have a high enough cranking power batt? The hydro's need more power than standards,i use 350cca battery's as a min. for good starting.
