Re: How many hours should i expect from a rebuild mag 18?
That yellow blade does look awesome on there!!! I would think that it should last until you don't want to use it anymore at that rate. Pushing that blade will cause wear on the driveline and rag joints before I would think that it would hurt the engine. Just keep the rear axle bolts tight and you sh...

Re: cub 2082
Ronnie, The 2082 is a damn fine machine. I have one with a 50" deck. Typical magnum engine issues apply, for example governor and breathers can have issues around 1,000 to 1,500 hours. Also, typical cyclops plastic issues. Look for leaking wheel seals (common problem, not a difficult repair) and mak...

I'm not sure how it happened, but I have one with a 44" yellow deck. It is an honest 1863 ( not something with the wrong side panels).

Nobody recognizes the map yet???? OMG I thought I was in good company here... Dave, that looks pretty sweet, where did you find yours? Tom, If you are anything like me you would be nervous hauling them. The Cub Cadet sign was in the truck bed by itself, but the Case sign (I think it is more valuable...

A few interesting finds
This stuff all came from the same dealer that I got the sign from in another thread. They were closing after 50 plus years, and I ended up buying several tractors, engines, and other misc. new and used parts and tools. Model 60 that has been in the corner of the shop for at least 20 years, as I unde...

I guess this hobby has come full circle
Picked this up last weekend. It actually has a bit of sentimental value to me. It hung inside of the dealership that gave me my first tax paying job when I worked there back in the mid 1980's. This job is what led me back to Cub cadets and other brands about 12 years ago. I was talking with a friend...

Ugh, I'm the same age as a 147, lol. Don't let Tom bother you about that hood ornament. He was the first to notice the "D-Cup" taillights" on an 1872 that I have, so it's no surprise that he caught the hood ornament. I am nominating him as the "official inspector of freakishly oversized parts". All ...

Good little machines if you can get use to the different sound and action of the hydro. The vanguard 16 has plenty of power. Have you got to run it yet? When I ran my first cyclops, I couldn't believe how tight they steered.

Re: Help with Kohler build
It might bolt onto the frame, but not in the existing holes. The starting and charging systems would be different. Would have to re-wire the tractor itself to make it run as it is. Closure plate for geared starter and generator start are different, so you are dis assembling the engine partially, and...

I think I wish I was in Vermont with a pocket full of money. I bet it still smells new.
But my opinion might not count, you asked what the cyclops experts thought!
Beautiful tractor, you may never see another one that clean.

Re: 147 ?
I have a manual somewhere for one of the 129s that I bought and sold that had incorrect information on the cover. Seems like the model numbers are all wide frame, but the drawing on it is of a narrow frame. I think it is just what Kevin was saying. The manuals weren't updated to the new pictures at ...

Re: Help with Kohler build
Jeff, So many core and good engines are both available for the narrow frames. You are asking for headaches, and modifications that you don't need to do. Also, I think the flywheel from a 10-12 are the same, and the 14-16 are balanced differently. I don't think that block can be just trimmed, you wou...

Re: cub cadet, running lousy, Ignition? or carb? HELP PLEASE
The points are just as reliable as an electronic ignition. period. Your symptoms seem more like a problem due to heat. I have had a couple of Kohlers that had sat for years, and acted this way when they were put back into service. The oil inside of the ignition can thicken over time, and overheat an...

It's the thin line on the front of the crankshaft. Look about 90 degrees off of the keyway. Look directly ahead of the part number straight ahead of the first throw.

Picked this up this weekend and don't know which way to go with it. Has 5 plates with it. One of them is for peanuts and p.o. said one is green beans. Will be cleaning the others up to read the markings. Has some rust outs on the front bin.

Re: Ag tire question
I prefer the Carlisle Tru Powers. They look very beefy when mounted. I have had Goodyears, and an older set of Firestones, and I hated the narrow look on the Firestones. The ones that Todd mentioned look great, but at 3x what a Tru Power costs, I can't justify them. I can't say on any other brand, b...

Bob, 86 is a low production tractor, so I'm sure there would be some interest. I think posting it here would be a good idea, but don't put all of your eggs in one basket as far as hoping to sell it here. I can't sell anything that I list on here, I think a lot of that reason is that most of our memb...

Re: steer axle info
Pete, The 1641 did not have the same axle as the supers. A super garden tractor axle is much heavier than the standard gt axles, and strictly fits the supers. The "Super steer" axles allow the wheels to turn sharper because of the angle of the kingpin area , and have a higher arc that allows the use...

Lock the brake pedal down and drag the rear tires if you are in doubt if the hydro is released. The older ones and the newer ones had manual release on them but yours should have auto release valves.
