Re: Nova Scotia 1450 rebuild

When it was recommended that I join Cub Cadet Collectors by a member of another forum that I'm on, mention was specifically made to look for the engine cradle/isolator upgrade. I'll definitely be adding the cross bracing. Looking at the engine cradle in mine, it appears that the upper sections of bo...

Re: Nova Scotia 1450 rebuild

That's pretty much how I planned to make a replacement for the alloy section of mine. Fortunately the steel box section is OK. It just needs a few rivets replaced. At some point in the future, I would like to try some sand casting of alloy parts. The "Metal Casting at Home" series of videos posted b...

Re: Nova Scotia 1450 rebuild

When I get some sheet metal working tools like a pan brake/finger folder in my workshop, I'll probably hand make replacements for the alloy part of the muffler box and all the other bits of the engine tin. I've done a lot more complex work building a custom air cleaner assembly for my car, but in th...

Re: Nova Scotia 1450 rebuild

A few parts in the box of bits had me mystified, but eventually, I discovered that this mix of sheet metal and broken die cast alloy is a Muffler Box. http://www.anobviousdistraction.com/ccc14/2014_05_19_0774_th.jpg The die cast alloy parts are pretty much beyond repair. Similarly a few bits of the ...

Re: Nova Scotia 1450 rebuild

So much for the over winter rebuild plans. Between getting the Cub Cadet, and winter arriving, my wife found a better use for the unattached garage we had been using for a storage shed. Suddenly the attached garage that I planned to work in was fully filled, and plans to insulate and heat the attach...

Nova Scotia 1450 rebuild

As I said in my introduction post in the Welcome Mat topic , I acquired a non-running 1450 + accessories that I plan to turn into a working rig. Back in May 2013, these photographs were posted in an advertisement in the Nova Scotia section of Kijiji. http://www.anobviousdistraction.com/ccc14/Cub_Cad...

Re: Australian in Nova Scotia with a 1450

I was Jim at work, but I prefer James. I'll start a new topic detailing my 1450 and the repair progress. Most likely the first Cub Cadet specific parts I'll be looking for will be the isolation mounts for the Kohler K321AQS engine cradle and maybe a new flexible rubber section for the motor to drive...

Re: Australian in Nova Scotia with a 1450

Can't remember where I found the signature line. It was certainly a long time ago. I was using it for a number of years before I left Australia. Corberrie is located almost exactly half way between Digby and Yarmouth, right on Highway 340. The nearest town is probably Weymouth, about 20km away at th...

Australian in Nova Scotia with a 1450

Hi there. I'm originally from Australia. I moved to Newfoundland in 2008, and in 2012, I relocated to the Acadian Shore region of rural Nova Scotia. We live in a 100+ year old 6 bedroom farm house on 10 acres. My wife is interested in getting some fruit and vegetable gardens established, so almost a...
