MC engine powered Cub

I was at a Cars and Parts show yesterday: On display was an early Cub tractor with a 4 cylinder inline Motor Cycle engine installed. All neatly done. It had a big push pad on the front. Maybe used to push start some type of race car? I should have paid more attention to the details of the tractor, i...

1864 parts

I am looking for the dash facia ( information center) warning light bezel or what ever you call it for an 1864 that has apparently set out in the sun, as the dash and the seat are toasted into history.. Any one have any ideas on replacements? Phil

Re: 1862 rebuild/2554 mower adjustment

dag1450(Dave), Tom S., Swilliams. Thanks for all your posts and good information regarding my Kohler 18 magnum. I have acreage to mow and rely on a Woods F 21 D, 72" for that. I use the 1862 for light hauling, spraying and some blade work, only occasional use for rough mowing. I could only find stan...

1862 rebuild/2554 mower adjustment

My 1862 was well worn - While rebuilding the engine I decided to take off the flywheel, when I did one of the permanent magnets fell of the inside (alternator) which appeared to have been glued in place, I cleaned it and the flywheel surface. I tapped vigorously on the other weights with a small pla...

Re: 1862/1872?

TS thank you for the very informative reply and mini education tour. I have enjoyed several Cubs over the past30+ years, unfortunately I paid little attention to the Models but all were Hydrostatic mowers none smaller than 50". There was a 12, a 16 and a couple of 17 HP (Kohler opposed twins) the la...

1862/1872?

What is the difference between the 1862 and 1872? I have a 1862 that I have worn down and am in the process of rebuilding and was toying with the idea of rigging up individual brakes, I don't know if the 1872 has them or what differences there are between the two? Phil
