GT3235 Update

I finally got enough front hydraulic angling parts together to get the tractor back together and install the 3 point hitch. A used lift valve (which I rebuilt), NOS hard & rubber lines, and new aftermarket quick connectors & fittings got things completed up to the front hitch – now to find an anglin...

Nice work, the wheels look great. You will have a real nice rig when you're all done. Keep the updates coming, please.

Re: I'm blaming this one on BB!!!!

Hi Steve- Glad to hear your new tractor checks out well - you never know exactly what your are getting when there was PO. Yes, not only is that 54" deck big, but it's heavy too! I have the 48" version deck and man, it's way heavier than the 50" suspended deck on the GT2550. They put a lot of extra b...

Man, that one is toasty! Still, should be some good stuff left, just get out the sandblaster. Any idea why it lit off?

Hi Steve,

Great looking GT3240 - I really like the anniversary color scheme. I am looking forward to more pictures and details after you give a good look over. Congratulations on your find!

Re: OOPS!

Another problem is corrected. Called Carlisle and they were very helpful, suggesting that another tire from the same production date/batch should correct the mismatch. They even offered to ship me two new All Trails direct once I confirmed the problem, but Summit found the needed tire in their stock...

Very nicely done, I can see how that would work. They will probably last a long time too, which is a good thing because those caster wheels are expensive. Cheers!

Now that's what a garage should look like! Hmm, I also see some interesting aircraft hanging from the ceiling, looks like a heavy-duty hobby.

Re: Bunch O' GT3235 Stuff

Thanks Josh. The 3000’s really are great tractors that were popular enough that a wide selection is available. If you want a blower (or a blade), there a quite a few for sale that include one, and they are usually at a pretty good price. Some attachments you would need to search for or piece togethe...

Re: Bunch O' GT3235 Stuff

Yes, I bought it with 189 hours, so it’s pretty clean. However, it must have been stored where critters had access, as I had to remove all of the engine shrouding to clean out piles of bedding brought in by mice. The fins around the heads and cylinders were just packed. You never know what surprise ...

Bunch O' GT3235 Stuff

Here is the first bunch of GT3235 mods that I have done: Uncoupling the Brake & Diff-Lock - I believe that linking the brake & diff-lock together serves to wear the diff-lock parts out more quickly. The CI transaxle 3100 series tractors weigh almost the same; have no diff-lock and their (exact same ...

Re: OOPS!

Nah, I might have went with Ag's if I did a lot of garden work. I like these as they are a very good multi-surface tire. They are very popular for GT service - Deere fits something very similar as OEM on a number of their GT's. I think for landscaping work - which is job 1 this year - they may work ...

OOPS!

Just received a pair of Carlisle All-Trails for my GT3235 and mounted them tonight. Both are marked as 25x10.50-12's with the same PR numbers and are mounted on the same 3000 rims. But as you can see below they are WAY different in height and profile. It's strange, but I have heard of this happening...

Re: Pictures of 2284 up and running

Hello - Great looking 2284, it does not look like it needs anything else. I really like that series of Cub Cadets, very stout. How does it compare to the 3000? It looks somewhat larger and with bigger tires.

Re: New Arrival

The GT3235 is still apart as I am going to put a hydraulic angling kit on before I put everything back together. However, as I can't find an angling kit, I am working on piecing one together. It looks like I have some time before I can start on my landscape project anyway - snow is in the weather fo...

Re: Drive shaft play in 1882

Hello, From the Cub Cadet website, it looks like the 1882 has a ball-bearing CV joint type set up, much different than the later barrel rollers. I believe that you are correct that there is no adjustment, but it does look like the individual parts are available. If your 1/16" lash is fore & aft - e...

Re: CC 3185/3165 and a 3240 project.

Hi Bryan - Sounds like a good plan. 300 hours on a GT3200 is just broken in, how did you learn of it? Is there a story or did you just happen to see it for sale? I would like a tiller also, but $1,500 is steep for me too.

Nope, not stupid at all, just means that whatever you are getting is worth 24 hours of travel. I am contemplating a long trip myself to get something, so I understand. You have really got my interest, will be looking forward to seeing what your acquisition is. Safe travels!

Re: New Arrival

John – Thanks, I bought my GT2550 new in November of 2008 and it’s been a great workhorse – never let me down. It mows extremely well (currently using Gator blades), is an awesome snow clearing machine (341 blower, chains, 2-3 suitcases), and can walk away with a full trailer of soil like nothing. I...

Hi Guys, Thanks for the welcome, glad to be here. I really like my GT2550, but the 3000’s are something special – I have pictures of both below. Bryan, I really enjoyed your thread, great stuff. By now you know the 3000’s inside and out. The KwikWay seen below is not installed yet (will be on in a w...

New Arrival

Hello, I recently happened upon the CubCadetCollectors.com and liked the idea of having a forum available that was decided to the post IH Cub Cadets, so I decided to check it out. I have a GT2550 that is mostly used for mowing and lawn care, and a GT3235 that is used for everything else. I enjoy not...
