IH Farmall 140 Bumper Grill Guard

Can anyone tell me if the popular front bumper grill guard seen on most IH Farmall 140 tractors - especially in the southern states, is a IH part?

Re: SCAM ALERT !!!!!

Jeff, WalMart cameras. This Bill Malandro (fake name) had me send the money in his wife's name, Lisa. Who knows what WalMart she claimed the money using the reference number I gave them after sending it. So yes, cameras most likely got her, but what's she look like??? Three police agencies told me t...

Re: SCAM ALERT !!!!!

Jeff: He called me after reading a story I did in LAGT Magazine about the 82 Series Cub Cadets. Then he offered me great prices on attachments he said his late father had. It was all a big lie. However, he does know tractors and can talk like he is OK. Since I posted the scam alert others have come ...

SCAM ALERT !!!!!

Stay clear of a guy selling tractor parts from a town south of Pittsburgh called Charleroi. PA. He used the name Bill Malandro and wife Lisa in my deal. Others scammed say he may also be Bill Stevenson. His game is to contact people offering them tractor parts and delivery by a trucker friend. Shipp...

I'm looking for a 1/16th scale model of an International Farmall 140 with the restyled front grille - after 1963, and the square seat. Anyone have one for sale?

Replacement decals

I am repainting my 1974 International Farmall 140 tractor and will be replacing the decals too. I've seen some poor decals kits over the years that do not come close to what the originals looked like. Can somebody email me with where I can get good 140 decals? :D
Many thanks in advance.

Model 44-A Mower Deck Spindles needed

My Model 44-A Mower Deck has a center spindle that has developed a growel-like noise and I need to replace it. It is not sloppy and is still tight. This mower deck came on my 1650 brand new when I bought it back in 1979 and has never been apart. I believe this topic was discussed here in the past an...

Thanks Todd. This is such a small detail that I am going the way and look that I like - gloss black with 2150 red arms and backrest metal support.

Metal seat parts color for IH Farmall 140.

I am restoring the seat frame on my IH Farmall 140 tractor and have seen it shown in most photos as being painted black. However some have shown it red. I like the look of the red after the redone black seat and backrest cushions are in place. Does anyone know if red or black is correct, and what's ...

Primer color

Friends here with Farmall 140 tractors have told me they think their tractors must have been industrial tractors or special ordered tractors for a DPW or highway department because beneath the red paint is yellow paint. I checked their serial numbers and they do not indicate industrial tractors. Las...

82 Series Grills.

Many thanks to Todd Markle for his Yellow & White Pages column in the recent July-August, 2011 issue of Red Power Magazine telling all about the 82 Series Cub Cadet tractors. Having several of these units I have often inquired about the variations of grills and which was original and what went where...

Farmall Super-A proper oil level

I thought I'd check the oil level in my Super-A yesterday. I opened the lower test cock and no oil came out. So I added oil until it did - about a half quart. It could not have been down a lot because in February I changed the oil and filter. Today while using the tractor it started smoking terribly...

CC 1440 Mower Deck height adjustment modification

New is not better. We've all heard that and it is true in this case. Old Cub Cadets in my collection have an adjustable cam setting for setting the mower deck cutting height. My 1440 and 682 just have the lever with notched settings and no more cam. Each setting is a huge difference. A number 3 sett...

I spoke too soon. After thinking my PTO switch was OK after cleaning the contacts, today it would not engage the PTO again. So I replaced it with a new one $52.29. Yikes! Now it works good.

Re: PTO Switch

It looks like my problem has been solved by simply cleaning the contacts on the backside of the PTO switch. I also removed the cables from the relay and cleaned them. Thanks to Todd and others for your comments and help.

PTO Switch

In order to engage the PTO on my CC 1440 I must hold the switch up for some time and play with it moving it up and down (off and on position) until it finally kicks the PTO into operation. Does this sound like a bad switch? I'd hate to spend $51.29 for a new switch Part # 725-0893 if it is something...

Original 1961 Cub Cadet fender option

Here's one for you ORIGINAL CUB CADET experts. I was recently told that the 1961 Originals never had factory fenders on them because they were not offered as an option until 1962. I find this hard to believe because my 1961 Original only had one owner before me and he said it always had fenders. Any...

My TRoy-Bilt tiller has dead man switches at each handlebar. Let go of this and the engine immedialtly stops. Must be his was an older model that kept going. Re: PTO shuts off.

Today I was able to clear up my problem of the PTO shutting off by itself. The problem was the switch below the seat. It was far too sensitive and it's removed and the two wires connected together. Now only the PTO dash switch controls the PTO and nothing else. My 8 other CC do not have that feature...

Re: PTO shuts off.

Well guys, thanks for all the tips. It is the seat switch mechanism. I sat on the tractor with the PTO operating and a slight move of me on the seat toward the rear and OFF goes the PTO. I removed the switch and put the two wires together and that fixed it. No more cutting out of the PTO. Then I dec...

Seat safety switche on my CC 1440

Yesterday when I mowed with my 1994 CC 1440 the PTO would shut off by itself while mowing. It turns out that it was the safety switch beneath the seat. I decided to eliminate it by removing the switch and connecting the two wires. It worked great. Now the dash PTO switch controls the front PTO and n...

Re: 982 Grill Springs

Those 982 (and other 82 Series tractors) grille springs are the greatest! How many 1961 - 1980 Cub Cadets have you seen with the grilles missing? Tons of them! It was because they were too difficult or time consuming to put back on once off. The springs make replacing the grilles on the 82 Series a ...

Seat Safety Shutoff Switch on 1440

My CC 1440 has a seat safety switch that kills the engine if somebody gets off the seat while tractor and pto is engaged. I roto-tilled my pager in the ground while doing several gardens in the springtime. Had not idea where. I backtracked each garden using my cell phone to page myself and quietly listening for it. I found it! It had been damaged some, but the FD replaced it for me. :D :D
