Butchered 127
I replied to a cl add for a rebuilt 12hp cub Kohler for $100 after talking to the guy he said he had the rest of the tractor minus the front axle that I could have for a few more $. Turns out it is a 127 or what’s left of it which I neede for my recently acquired 127. Sadly he took a torch to a runn...

1864?
Saw this on CL. Will this deck fit my 1864 or is it a super only deck?
I already have a 60” haban for my 1872 but the deck on the 1864 is pretty trashed.

New to me 123
Found this 123 on Craigslist 4hrs away called the guy turns out he has a 127 for sale as well so you know what I did, yep bought them both $200 each. The 123 fired right up drove it in the trailer sounds great. Looks like it’s been mostly under cover. The 127 isn’t running but looks pretty decent as...

This 3204 is only 440 miles away😆 Quick connect blade 60” deck and I think it has diff lok which supposedly it shouldn’t. Don’t know much about these from what I’ve read shaft drive deck? Do any of you have experience with the 3000 series? Seems like a good price for package at least around these pa...

Re: 1872 freshen up burning oil
Maybe ten hours since work was done. I think he replaced both exhaust valves/guides and did install new valve seals.
If a new breather kit doesn’t help I guess I know what I’ll be doing for a winter project

Re: 1872 freshen up burning oil
Ok well the shop did work from the manual I provided. I did watch him measure each cyl in three locations. Not sure he did in-line or perpendicular to crank and no I don’t have finish measurements but he said it was within the specs from manual. I used Red barn pistons and rings and installed per ma...

1872 freshen up burning oil
After installing new pistons, rings, valve job and seals she’s burning quite a bit of oil. I had the honing and valve job done at the machine shop. The piston clearance was in spec. Ring gap was checked but now she burns oil. I broke in in carefully with 30w conventional oil and heat cycled it sever...

Re: Boom goes the belt !!!
Have you checked the bearings on the mule drive? Proper belt tension? I put a 54” on my 1864 and it mows great. You Should be plenty of power. I had a belt eater on one of my other tractors turned out one of the deck pulleys was corroded from sitting to long dirty. After cleaning off rust there were...

Re: Dozer blade 1872
Well I got. No lift strap bracket though the lift tube was on it just couldn’t see it in the pics. Cutting edge toast beginning to wear on blade. Has a couple goober welds on it. I could only get him down to $400 but after 180mi I wasn’t going to leave it and he knew it so maybe not a bargain but it...

Gotcha thanks for the pic. Going Tuesday to make a deal. Apparently he has other super stuff as well. Sounds like he went down the 2000 series road. Has a tiller but I don’t have the rear pto. I have a # 2 on my 1450 works great anyway Make a few bucks with that every spring

Dozer blade 1872
Finally found a blade for sale for my 1872. I’ve been looking for one for 5 yrs or better. The cub stuff is hard to come by in the PNW Guy says it’s a Haban power angle all hardware for $450. I’m ok with the price just wondering what you guys think it’s worth? I know the Haban deck is hell for stout...

Re: 1872 freshen up update
Yes valves probably contributed to hard starting. If the bottom end was loose I probably would have went another way. Time to start looking at the 782 it’s pretty rough but worthy

1872 freshen up update
Finished up the 1872 last weekend. Runs very well, man what a difference the electric fuel pump makes. You touch the key and it’s running! I’m glad I didn’t give up on it. I was a little apprehensive about digging into this engine but couldn’t be happier with it

Re: 1872 wiring question
I looked at a few diagrams they just show the starter as grounded. There is a short cable off the battery directly to ground then an additional cable off neg side to engine bay and of course the red cable from solenoid to starter. Maybe C somebody added it. Doesn’t make sense to me but I’m no wiring...

1872 wiring question
Here’s a bone head question. The negative battery cable runs clear up to the engine bay but I can’t see where it attaches to. I’m thinking starter mounting bolt in which case I will have to lift the engine to get at or can I attach to engine mounting plate. It’s been to long since I pulled it apart ...

The 1872 has been sitting for two years while standing on one foot and the other trying to figure out what to do with it🤔 I looked at repower kits but couldn’t pull the trigger for the $ they cost. Looked for donar engines no luck. Considered sending it in for rebuild even advertised it for sale but...
