Re: Bought a Yellow and white 982 oddball
I saw that one on the site, I was working down at George Washington birthplace at the time just 45 minutes south of Fredericksburg . Was gonna get it but left Thursday evening pickup was Friday. I don’t think that’s factory yellow paint, you can see red under the IH serial plate. Cast iron rear, eve...

Johnson loader fluid fill
Picked up this loader tractor. Johnson workhorse loader. Was shown where to fill up the hydraulic fluid by previous owner. Can’t get it off, cap just spins, can’t get the male adapter out. Any ideas?

Re: C-48 sweepster
No more detailed pictures of the shaft or mounts, it has a metal cover not plastic like I have seen for the garden tractors. I figured that was half of the drive shaft, didn’t want to drive that far and not be able to hook it up because I can’t find parts. I’ll likely just keep on the hunt for one f...

C-48 sweepster
Located a C-48 model sweepster, but the owner doesn’t know what tractor it fits. Sent me a picture of this shaft, so it’s not belt driven it appears. Anyone know anything about these. It’s 6 hrs north of me otherwise I’d go regardless and pick it up and gamble it’ll fit, still may anyways.

Re: 582 repower
Haha, yeah I definitely suffer from cub fever. I used to be a big time avid hunter but when all my local spots dried up and it got to be too stressful dealing with other people that thought they owned everything I called it quits. I definitely see a spike in cub fever during the spring turkey season...

Re: 582 repower
Well got the 582, 18 magnum conversion completed. Very pleased with the results, everything was pretty straightforward. Also thanks for the replies on my 782 issues, I adjusted the pto air gap and adjusted the valves, runs well. Also got a decent parts 782 at a sale over the weekend swapped out the ...

I think it was a replacement as well. Was a bear to get the mule drive and deck off, normally takes me 30 seconds. I’ve got a 44c I’ll throw under it, probably sell that 46” deck that came with it .Gonna clean it up tonight hopefully. Not a bad investment for $50

Found this 2 owner, low hour 1811. Owner grew frustrated with it after it wouldn’t start with a new starter solenoid. It sat for 1 1/2 Year’s. Turns out it wasn’t grounded properly. Runs awesome. Gonna yank engine and clean it up nice. Too nice to part, it’ll sell or sit in the boneyard

Re: 50c deck keeps clogging
That is very strange. How is the cut? Is it a nice cut from all three blades?? I can't say I have experience with the 50". Is there a chance the belt is on wrong....idk. good luck with that. I have noticed there is some high spot in the middle of the grass is too tall. Other than that a good cut. A...

50c deck keeps clogging
Have a 50c mower deck. It’s ran by a 682 with an 18 mag. It does not matter the condition or height of the grass, but the farthest blade away from the chute is always clogged with grass. I have gator blades on currently which didn’t seem to change the condition. I have sanded the deck to bare metal....

Re: Fuel Tank Shut-off Valve ???
Here is what the factory petcock or drain valve looks like. An aftermarket one I purchase off Amazon is on the left, notice shorter filter. Factory original on right minus the valve handle. Part number for that is 7-02351. Here is a picture of the plates I referenced. I prefer to remove the tank sup...

Re: 782 strange behavior
check the gap on the clutch set at .010 ..... thanks I need to get a .010 feeler gauge! As for restarting the hot engine, I had same problem with my mag 20. After doing some research my conclusion was worn valves into the seats. I ended up rebuilding the engine. When I did take things all apart val...

Re: Fuel Tank Shut-off Valve ???
Why drain the tank? Do you have the factory style petcock on the tank? If so there is a filter protruding into the tank that can get clogged, I don't run any other filter. I always shut the valve off, remove the four bolts from the dash and remove the two 5/16 screws from the vanity plates (if yours...

782 strange behavior
A 782 with a series II, starts up and runs well, pto engages, mows grass well. After maybe 30 minutes if I stop and turn off the pto, it won't re-engage. Next day when cold it will. It will continue to operate perfect until I shut it off, then that's when the issues start. If I shut engine off after ...

Re: 982 Onan spark issues
I can't offer any help, I have an onan performer 20 in my 982 that's finicky to say the least. I have spark, but under load no power. I'm personally ready to replace it with a magnum 18 I have sitting on the bench. Everyone I've talked to that's has Onans on their welding rigs loves them until they ...

Re: Backfiring engine
Could very well be the exhaust valves. Check the ignition points are timed properly, and the carb is tuned correctly as well. Improperly timed points can cause a backfire through the exhaust

Re: Just got a 126
Put some pictures of it up. The 126 is the third rarest model cub cadet with 5,000 some made in that ballpark. I've had a few of them and have a restored one that's my daughters. Their great tractors. What are your intentions for it, what will it be used for?

Rick, You find so many red ones. Nice IH made 782. You may have found one with a replacement motor. Does the motor have an oil filter? It's a replacement, has the block off plate. I have the original owners manuals and bill of sale with all work performed on it. Yeah nice. Lew..in my Craigslist sca...

Re: cub cadet 102 loses battery charge and whats it worth?
Depends on options such as headlights, creeper gear, sleeve hitch and hydraulic lift were all optional that add value. Condition, I prefer original, if it's been worked over with a rattle can they don't mean as much to me.

Found this in my travels. Has IH hubcaps that will cleanup nice, sleeve hitch and series II engine. It will get a new seat, IH grill emblem and grille, along with a lot of tlc but it'll be nice. It'll also need the heat shield over the muffler. Dummy me scrapped two series I with all that junk on it...

Re: 582 repower
Too bad, looks like a nice tractor to flip. You need to find a 2185 or a 2042 with a command in it for the repower but what do I know. Keep us posted on your progress. I did find a couple command engines but I've been burned enough times on buying engines to write a country song. I'll never buy an ...

Re: 582 repower
Hello, i don't know about a 1440, but a mag 18 out of a Sears/Craftsman will work nice. The pto off the Briggs will bolt right on that Mag 18. They both have 1" pto shafts. Mike Thanks, wasn't aware a craftsman mag engine would work I'll keep an eye out for that too. I’m sure the 1440 Briggs will r...
