Re: 1541 gaskets

Thanks Tom.

That was exactly the problem, the breather was just about ready to disintegrate and the oil filter gasket was hard and brittle with the bolts being finger tight.

No on to washing it off when it warms up.  These unheated sheds have a lot to be desired!

Ranger mower on a 185

Looks like Dad is going to be buying a Cub 185 Lo-boy with a Ranger mower and a front blade.
Anyone know anything about Ranger mowers. This is not the usual woods mower under the tractor.

Thanks

1541 gaskets

Long time no post here.

I am working on my grandfathers 1541, replacing his crankcase breather and remote oil filter gasket.
My question is do I need gasket cement on any of those gaskets or not?

Thanks

Re: CCC 682 and a 450 Or 451?

Pretty Cool lift! I found a 451 for $150 and looks decent, dad really wants to get it. I keep telling him to hold off for a 450 so we don't have to do any mods with the gearbox or pulleys. We'll see!

CCC 682 and a 450 Or 451?

Hey guys, long time no post here! I have a question on dads ccc not IH 682 cub cadet. He wants a snow blower for it, and if I am right the 682 uses a 450 with no modifications. But I see a 451 will work also if I think we change out the 682 front pto for a larger one or change out the blower pto pul...

Re: 1541 coil?

That was what I was thinking too! I can buy quite a few $22 coils vs the oem price. All the numbers run in circles. If you have an 01 the 02 s will work. Some sites just omit the plain 02 and everything is 02 s. So I am really thinking the 02 is becoming obsolete and the 02 s is the new #. I even we...

1541 coil?

Hey guys, Long time no post here! Hope all is well! My grandfathers 1541 coil died again. Of course cost is an issue with cub wanting about $140, I found a place I can get one for about $22 on sale. The only thing is the cub/kohler number is Kohler 52-584-02: the cheap one is Kohler 52-584-01 and or...

Re: Bagging blade question

Todd he is bagging when ever he can mow his grass and not let mud tracks with the push mower!

We will check out the rpm too. I kind of figured to go with cub cadet blades vs a 1 size fits most!

Bagging blade question

Its that time of year again and dad wants to get new blades for his 682 and 46" deck. I was looking and seen cub cadet sells blades for regular mowing and bagging, so does stens. The problem is stens list 1 blade 325-134 for the middle blade (flat and bagging) while cub list 2 different blades 1 for...

Polaris ATV shock bushings

Still having no luck finding rear shock bushings for my 1992 polaris trail boss 250. I do not want to spend $100 plus for a new shock since my shock is good! But polaris has discontinued shock bushings a while back. Found some sleeve bearings at McMastercarr $9.07 a piece and I need 4 = $36.28. http...

Re: Need some input...

Can't you simply draw up a legal form and have the person committing to buying a tractor sign it releasing you from any and all liability on the finished product and if your customizing one of their machines, before the build the signed release would cover your permission to alter and customize thei...

Re: Any advice on chain saws

Husky! For the price difference. Yep they are cheaper in quality than the older ones but they still cut logs and parts are available. You cannot go wrong with a stihl or husky saw. Some loggers around here run all stihl others run all huskys. Its all in what your comfortable with! I have a husky 141...

Re: Trailers

Not sure of the name now but the old Williamson Honda dealership over outside Mill Hall has trailers. According to my uncle who bought a larger trailer a couple years ago the quality is not there like fast track. Stoners small engine in Pleasant Gap had some. What I seen a while back is 1' metal sid...

Not much new

Ernest Auman here from central Pa. Not much new in the cub cadet world for me. Since April I sold off my cub cadet 3204 and bought a husqvarna gth26v48ls with power flow bagger. Big mistake! I'll provide details if you want. Then I finally had enough of that fix or repair weekly machine and took it ...
