RER 85 manual and 60 snow blade
Good morning all, I have downloaded the manual in the library for a 55, 75 and 95 manual and also found a parts list, but I am not able to find either a repair manual or parts catalog/list for the 85. I have an 85 special and am looking. I have a couple of 60's and a 75 in various states, but need m...

Re: rear engine rider transmission
Update on the RER transmission. I found two more used units and now have a total of four. Combining all of them, I can build one transmission. The problem seems to be that the pinion gear and shaft are at the bottom of the transmission case and if any water at all gets in, it rusts the gear to the p...

Re: rear engine rider transmission
I don't know if it would work without dimensions, but this pinion gear is integral with the shaft, while the one that I need is removable and held in with a snap ring. Bearings/bushings are also a different design. It might fit, but I really don't know. I agree with your thinking and would jump if I...

Re: rear engine rider transmission
Thanks indy61 - I think they are the same - I will try to verify at home tonight. They are proud of it! I have a source for another used one - pretty cheap, might try one more time before I order the kit from ebay. I appreciate the help! JW

Re: rear engine rider transmission
It is part 21 - in this case the bevel gear is the same on a 60 with a four speed. It is 490-714-R1 in that illustration. After digging through many images, I found out that it is a Foote transmission. Fafnir? Do you know of a source for those gears? Thanks in advance! John

rear engine rider transmission
I am trying to rebuild a 3 speed transmission for my old 85 cadet rear engine rider. I have two transmissions and the manual and was able to combine parts to make one except for Part 21 - bevel gear - manual says replace both bevel gears with set 56-671-C1. Both transmissions that I had - they were ...

New from Missouri
I am new to this hobby and have come to love the IH cub cadets for their engineering and design. I found a clean 122 and have installed a hitch and rake for landscaping and removing rocks in the hilly Ozarks. Rebuilt the carb, installed new points and a good cleaning, it is good to go. WW2 vet owned...
