Re: Cub Cadet 147

There's no need for a farmall, just get a blade or snow blower for the cub you already have. Implements for these cadets are more than readily available in your area, especially if you're willing to drive into Fort Wayne area. That's a beautiful cub you have, and with your care, she will be for a lo...

Re: Finally on display

Yup, it's a lawn boy, with a better looking hood and paint! I would love to find a self propelled lawn boy, but that seems to be kinda hard to find. I'm not sure if cub ever rebranded one one that was self propelled or not? Info on these is hard to come by as well. It's a ton harder than the garden ...

Finally on display

I purchased this little pusher this past November from a guy in Indiana. It still has the original bag with no holes and the logo still very visible. And... she runs amazingly well!

Re: Winter Snow and Storm Pics

A few years ago, I got a Cub Cadet 3x from Home Depot. As I have come to learn, the Home Depot portion of the program is part of the problem. The Home Depot versions of stuff are apparently incredibly cheaply made. So, the first few years of the snowblower it worked pretty darn well. Handled most s...

Re: Sad, but exciting day

Sounds like you've been around a Scout out two! 😆 My grandpa and dad both worked at the harvester plant in Fort Wayne IN until they closed it up. My dad worked on the Scout line setting the bodies on the frame, and he says they should have included extra doors and floors in the purchase so you had a...

Sad, but exciting day

So, last night, I agreed to a trade with the neighbor down the road. He's been on me about buying my lo-boy 185, for about a year now. I kept telling him it wasn't for sale. And then, last night, he offered his Scout in trade! It's a bit, and I mean a BIG bit of a project, but it runs and drives. I ...

Lookin great, Paul! You've saved a gem! (What's it mean when a British Motorcycle doesn't leak oil on your floor???) Or Harley! I've got 3 Brits, 4 Italian, 2 HD, and 4 kawasaki steel horses in my stable. Only one brit, and 2 HD's have leaks that seem uncurable! That 1650 is beautiful 😍! My 1...

Welcome aboard! Tom is absolutely correct on the ags. The parts to fix the clutch are no longer available through mtd, but if you're handy and willing, anything can be fixed with patience. However, since it's working, I'd move it along to is next owner as they aren't known to be a dependable unit, d...

Not sure why it took me so long to see your reply Steve, I check this forum daily! Thank you for the cat 0 spec. I typically use the front wheels are on the ground still spec, but I'm trying to take better care of my tractors these days, as parts aren't getting cheaper, or easier to find.

Finally got the wife's little flower garden tilled up for her, now to load up the 1650 and take it to camp to till our vegetable garden. She's gonna get a workout up there as she has about 3 acres to do!

I was almost done splitting wood, and it started snowing. We wound up with around 4 inches total, so I got to blow all that this evening as well.

Yes..I know about white pines! My parents have a stand of them 100 feet long, and man are they brittle. I was just over last week cutting up some of the winter casualties. Chipper looks great and I would consider one if it was a few years ago, but their years..or months are numbered there. It will ...

Re: QL rear lift capacity

I'd say you answered it very well. The loss of steering is the same spec I use on my loboy 185. I have a king kutter disc harrow that I pull with that, and it turns the loboy into a wheelie monster! I fabbed a bracket to 6 suit case weights, and that changed the world! However, the 1650 is getting a...

QL rear lift capacity

My 1650 has the rear lift. I'm gonna upgrade it to the 3 point kit from Xtreme so I can use a land plane. The Xtreme site says their kit has 35% more lift capacity than stock. Does anybody know what the stock lift is rated at? I asked on another forum, and just got the standard "it'll lift that" ans...

Yeah, they had there toes in about 80 different pools. I've heard, not sure if it's true, that the reason IH got the contact was because all military arms were made in the north east, at that time. And when we unleashed the atomic era on the world, the government decided that our arms and munitions ...

They outsourced barrels from line material Corp, because they couldn't produce th...

Added another cub! But not like the others!

I've been looking at this wood chipper at my dealer since November. I didn't really have a use for it, till now! I live in an old growth white pine forest, and this week we had an ice storm on Tuesday, followed by 5 inches of snow, with 20mph winds. So yesterday I made the hour and a half trek to my...

It's pretty much a big box store machine. Think of it as one of those with bigger tires, and use it as such. As long as you just pull a yard cart, and tasks similar, it will last many years. It's a belt drive rear end. The common items to replace are the steering sector gear. When worn, it creates v...

Re: What I did with my tractor today! (Pic heavy please!)

It's definitely not like a standard chassis lube grease. I would say it's closer to dielectric grease than anything. I found it unusual that the service manual from kohler said not to lube the bendix with anything that will attract dirt, and it gave this part number for the "proper" lubricant. So I ...
