I hate to say this but it doesn't look like I will make it to Ohio plowday this year. With Chris getting married on the 26 i have had to schedule my time off around the big event. Jess plow a round or two for me, on a slant grill if you can find.one ;-) l hope everybody has safe travels to and from...

Looks like I'm not the only one to have a VW habit to go wtih my Cub habit. Yes. I had a 149 trans in a 1811. I re-used the 1811 calipers and it all seemed to fit well.

Re: NF Blade on a WF

Just to add to the feeling of futility, I haven't been real excited about the prospect of dealing with winter this year anyway. I ended up putting snow blades on two different machines. I think Jess even bought a snow blower and has threatened to use it. Naturally this winter has been mild so far. ....

Re: 1806 cub cadet

From the description it sounds like that bar definitely needs to come out. Even a stack of flat washers that measured 1/2" (or a little less) tall would be better. I know for sure there is a number of vendors on this board that would have lots of those spacers available.

Re: 1806 cub cadet

The engine mounting plate should put the engine at a 2 degree (?) angle to match the angle of the transaxle. Cub started doing this on the x82 series machines. The Kohler KT17/M18/M20 powered cubs would have .469" spacers between the plate and the engine. Make sure you have all four of the spacers i...

Re: A few questions???

Yes, as Jess mentioned, use the Cub muffler and exhaust shroud from a 682/782. If it is a late KT series-II (with the external oil filter block-off) you can use an exhaust shroud from a magnum powered Cub like a 1872/1811/1812/1806. Deere and Cub both use the long sheet metal over the #1 (right side...

Re: 782 not charging.

Matt, I did consider gluing the magnets back into the flywheel. The fit on the end of the crank wasn't snug which leads me to believe that the flywheel may have come from a single cylinder. I may have to check the part numbers.

Re: 782 not charging.

It just dawned on me that some Cubbers may not be used to seeing that end of a KT17. What you're looking at is the magnets came off of the flywheel and were stuck to the stator. ..and no, this is not the tractor in my avatar.

782 not charging.

I finally pulled the engine out of my 782 in an attempt to figure out why it wasn't charging. I tried the easy stuff first like the regulator. When I swapped the voltage regulator, I found it was bolted in upside down with all of the terminals grounded against the fan housing, so at this point, I as...

Yes, the holes arrived somewhere during IH production. I have an IH 682 frame with the holes and an earlier frame that does not have the holes. As far as I have seen so far, only the supers had nuts welded to the inside.

Sprayed real nice, decent price. I have to agree with the TSC paint. I used TSC Cub Cadet Beige for the side panels and grill on my 1872. At first I thought it was darker than the original 935. Then I picked up a used hood that is in original paint. You have to really look hard to perceive any diff...

Just to add to the confusion about lift rods for IH trip push blades, I will throw this in. I know there were two possible attachment locations for the lift bracket where it bolts to the A-frame. I happen to have a blade with both locations drilled. It would have a profound effect on the length of t...

Re: 582 question

Just for clarification sake, the Briggs opposed twin and the Kohler opposed twins (M18/KT17/M20) use the same engine mounting plate. The spacers go between the plate and the engine itself. The plate bolts directly to the frame in both cases but comes out with the engine whenever the engine is removed.

Re: 582 question

Something else to note about the x82 series with a Kohler single is driveshaft length. Unless I'm forgetting a model somewhere, the only x82 series to have a gear drive trans and a kohler single is the 1050 that was made in 1989 only. For that model, there was sufficient distance between the throw o...

I'm looking at the picture labeled 'block crack' and I'm thinking to myself that looks like one of the spacers that is normally behind each of the balance gears. Jerry, I would look into that further. I can get a pic of a complete balance gear set if you need a reference for what I'm talking about.
