Re: I'm back

Hi Jim, It's good to hear from you again. What ever happened to the Fairlane? It is still in progress, a 10-year effort so far. Thanks for asking. It is getting very close but there have been a lot of changes in my life over that period and it has had to wait at times. Thanks for asking! BTW, my SC...

IMHO, you get the best deal on Hytran if you go to an IH dealer, not a Cub Cadet dealer, and buy the fiver. Most of us are so addicted we NEED the fiver, anyway! Yes, it has jumped, but so has the price of regular motor oil. Those who find a better deal on Dexron or Dexron III auto tranny flui...

Re: Peco still supports its older vacs

Yes it does! Here it is on my 129 (now a tiller tractor.) http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p264/jswordy/vac1.jpg It's currently on my 1811 with a chute collector for a 50-inch deck. We had very severe tornadic weather back on April 27 through the South, and apparently the bag was blown away in the...

Peco still supports its older vacs

I am in need of a bag and hood for the Peco Vac I have, one of the old style single bag models. I was pleasantly surprised after calling 1-800-438-5823 to find out Peco still supports these vacs, many of which are 30 or 40 years old now. For our Cub Cadet vacs: The fabric hood or top is item G2001 a...

Cub Cadet stash gets nailed!

Had one heckuva huge storm -- I think tornadic -- come through Saturday. My outdoor CC stash took it on the chin! http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p264/jswordy/storm007.jpg One pretty nice hood, now scrap! :D http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p264/jswordy/storm008.jpg I watched this top come out ...

Thanks Scott. Where did you visit? Was it their Ohio test operations or the Brownsboro, Tennessee plant? About '03 or '04 or so I was honored to get to tour the Tennessee plant (closed to the public) and saw where they store the old IH dies to make the CC sheeet metal parts for the old narrow farmes...

Re: Cub Cadet Commercials

At the 40th mark, MTD advertised using an Original. They started out using one with all the correct decals and Navistar/IH put a stop to that. They still own the IH brand. So MTD continued on with the Original, just no decals on it. They also tried back then to sneak this lil bugger out by Net sales...

Re: 1450 sterrng colum

Yes, rebuilding the steering box will tighten things up. But before you remove it, gently rotate the wheel back and forth in the play area and observe where the slack is. If the steering box arm is moving you may have play in the ball joints (tie rod ends). Usually, most play in the box is inthe cam...

 Thats one thing I've noticed about taking on the task of smoking. Must be all that smoke makes you thirsty. Re: Has anyone ever try to polish cast aluminium ?

H-F buffer works for me! $80, and goes on sale sometimes. I bought mine for $60, IIRC. http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p264/jswordy/image_8112.jpg They stock the compounds, too, and replacement wheels. Did a nice job. I would not recommend the clear coat. It will yellow. Use a liquid car wax or g...

Oh yeah, start your coals and wood with a H-F $20 (when on sale) weed burner. Hooks to a 5 lb propane tank, sounds like a jet engine in use, coals are ready in a minute, no lighter fluid needed. Car swap meet vehicles (PIX HEAVY)

Well, I went to a local swap meet today, and got to snap a bunch of pix of what folks were driving in or trying to sell as far as cars. Pretty much 90% Chevy meet, so there was not much for a Ford man to buy. I got a few hours' entertainment for a grand total of $14 spent. Enjoy the pix, I am sure i...

Just got off the phone with my Dad. They got 16" in the Quad Cities, Ill. He just got done digging out. He had 3- and 4-foot drifts in the yard and his driveway, due to 60+ mph winds almost all night with the storm. You go maybe 100 miles north and west of there in Iowa, they got 1". Ya just never k...
