k161 rod number

I am in need of new connecting rod for my k161. The tins are not original and was wondering if anybody could cross this rod number to tell me if its large or small bore motor. I have the rod with me and the motor is at the house so I cant measure bore and need to get a rod ordered. Rod #230519.

70 with original timed deck

What size is the belt for a 70 with timed deck. My belt seems to tight and has no adjustment left.

Re: Engine swap info?

I had a 1862 that was my mowing machine I liked it allot but then came a 982 with power steering and a 60" haban deck. Needless to say the 1862 set in the corner of the garage all summer and decided to sell it. The 1862 was a nice 500 hour machine but the 982 fit my needs better.

Re: Cub Cadet 982 3-point hitch

I am using a sleeve setup on my 982 and only had to make lift bar. Works great bought lower bracket with ears from xtreme. The upper casting support I made but it was to thin. I bought a new one and it is very strong.

Re: 982 power steering leaking at column tube

Operation power steering was a success. Thanks for all the info and advice. The upper face seal was bad the new one looked like a V with a o-ring in the middle. Mine was just a worn down V. I took pictures of the two seals but they did not turn out. I went ahead and used all the seals and checked it...

Re: 982 power steering leaking at column tube

I got the column out tonight and tore it apart. Seems pretty basic the only seal i found bad was the upper seal. To bad I have to buy the whole kit to get the one seal. If you stay out of the center section which has no seals internally it not that bad. I had a mechanic from vermeer watch me tear in...

982 power steering leaking at column tube

Anybody no the best way to remove the column out of a 982 with power steering. It started leaking at the steering wheel so a upper pressure seal must have went bad. Was hoping I could leave the column in and just drop out the bottom part but it looks like it has retaining rings in the diagram. The p...

Re: 982 turning brakes

I just done some research and found the 317 has drum brakes which bind as the brakes touch the drum and applies more force if I am looking at the diagram right. Which I hate to say looks like a better design.

982 turning brakes

Finally got the 982 brakes up to snuff. I feel like they are a little on the weak side or bad design. Just wanting some info on others experience with the brakes. I had a deere 317 that would turn on a dime and the inside tire would sit in the same spot. Are they only good for traction assist if a t...

Re: Question about PM's

David I am sure you did nothing wrong they are just trying to get things setup. That feature was to be disabled and they are most likely banging there heads trying to figure out how it slipped through the system. Everybody is learning the system and trying to get the forum tweaked where they want it.
