Re: Concerns About Engine Oil
Hey Gang, I read this post and found it interesting so I contacted Brad Penn Oil company located in Bradford, Pa. and asked for their opinion. I told them that I have a 30+ year tractor (982 Cub) and thought you might find their answer below useful. Dan, Thank you for contacting PennGrade1 Lubricant...

Re: 982 just wondering???
I just had the dubious honor of this job myself when mine snapped while plowing. Take the tunnel cover off, you'll see where it attaches to the lift cylinder along the right of the frame. Unhook all of that. Fenders come off easy enough. You'll see one or two shear pins in the rockshaft that come o...

Re: 582 won't start - help please
Thanks for all the replies. He replaced the diaphragm, he has plenty of vacuum, the carburetor was soaked overnight in carburetor cleaner (there was a lot of dirt) and other people have told him it might be an air problem. Any thoughts at this point?

582 won't start - help please
Cub fever is spreading, from my house to my neighbor's. He recently acquired a 582 that he has restored. He rebuilt the carburetor on the Briggs and Stratton 16 HP engine and it will only run with the choke out. I have included a picture of a spring (#1) that he can't figure out where it attac...

Re: Red Cub Cadet 982 Stories
Here is my 982 S/N 2050595U675673 orginal Onan motor, split brakes. I added power steering, front hydraulics (from Ray Weaver) and picked up 54" Haban blade. Also included a photo of the home made "Cross shaft support strap". The tires are filled with rimguard ballast approx. 8 gallons each. Right n...

Re: 1872 / 54" blade
In this thread on 12/16/10, I posted pictures about my experience trying to install the Cross Shaft Support Strap on a 982 Cub. The strap was too short so I had one made and I thought I would post pictures of it: http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6085/6073955859_46df414219.jpg IMG_1264 by gafchic , on ...

Re: OT Garden Tractor
One other thing I should mention is that Case mower decks have the grass discharge chute on the left side . I don't know of any other make of mower that does that . If your use to a Cub deck discharge being on the right side and going counterclockwise around your yard , going in the opposite direct...

Re: Xtreme Motorworks 3 pt question...
I am interested in one of their 3 Pt hitch set-up for my 982 and was wondering when I raise and lower the snow plow if the 3 Pt will also raise and lower because it works of the same cylinder.

Re: 1872 / 54" blade
I'm wondering if the upper arm is already bent (which is what the strap is supposed to prevent). The force of trying to lift the blade would tend to force the arms apart like that. I don't know but I have seen where this attachment point is broken on Supers, maybe because it is a casting? I'm nervo...

Re: 1872 / 54" blade
The extra hole is to bolt on the Haban "Cross Shaft Support Strap", Cub #HA-14297. The picture is a good shot showing where the dog-legged strap is pinned to the mower arm in the background and bolted to the hole that was drilled out for the lift arm for this installation. As I have posted before, ...
