Re: 1772 radiator leak

I mixed the heavy duty stop leak with hot water and stirred it until the pellets were dissolved and added just a small amount of the paint like mixture after the engine had warmed up and coolant was flowing. Within a few minutes the leak stopped. I mowed my seriously long grass for several hours las...

Re: New guy and 1772 driveshaft questions

I have owned my 1772 for 19 years so I have been into the driveshaft a few times. I have found it helps to replace the bolts and nuts with new ones from cub cadet parts while you have it apart. They are the correct lenght and hardness as well as have center locking (nuts). First time I used local ha...

Re: New guy and 1772 driveshaft questions

Like Matt said--if the rear coupler wobbles around on the shaft you need to replace it as they wear on the inside. I had the same problem with vibration on my 1772 until i replaced the coupler.

Re: Diesel coolant hoses

Vince The top hose does need to be well insulated. Someone on the old registry mentioned this as a possible cause of overheating. I installed new insulation on this hose and it made a very significant cooling improvment on my 1772. I had never given any thought to that being a problem--It seems that...

My cub manual mentions replacing them every 2 years.

Re: Diesel Cooling Systems ?'s

I have used the lights and pto on my 1772 many times and have had no problems. My experience on overheating--- the best ccooling help I have found over the years is to keep the radiator fins very clean and make sure the upper hose is well insulated where it runs over the top of the engine. I use low...

Were you able to match up the bearings and purchase local? I see on cub parts they only sell the complete pto.
Just trying to find out all I can before starting to tear it down so any information is very much appreciated.

I have owned my 1772 for over 18years and have worked on the driveline numerous times. I am by no means ...

Re: Time to Repair 1572 Driveshaft - What Would You Do??

On my 1772 I remove both spirol pins, slide the front coupler back and take out the 3 bolts holding the engine coupler. This allows the driveline assembly to come out. Last time I had it out I replaced the bushings on the disconnect clutch. Took the "slop" out. Just the way I do it.

Bryan--I wrapped mine with the black self-stick water pipe insulation and then went over that with the aluminum type tape they use for ac ductwork. It worked great on my 1772.--Jim

Re: Time to Repair 1572 Driveshaft - What Would You Do??

Bryan I would keep it original. If part 7 does not fit pretty tight on the trans input shaft it will cause vibration for sure. That part wears inside over time. I bought one from cub last year for my 1772 so they are available. Always good to change any other worn parts while you have the driveline ...

my 1772 does the same thing every now and then. I replaced the 2 o-rings last filter change but it still comes loose sometimes.
I never could figure out why--could be the vibration of the diesel at idle.

The new site seems to work well now that I have found the proper buttons to click on. But I sure miss the old registry. I was easily able to find so much information on keeping my cub running. That was so helpful to me as I could not afford to send it off for repairs when things went wrong. However ...
