Re: 4a084 125

I finally got around to addressing my driveshaft angle problem. I rolled the rear end up 4 degrees and the engine down 4. Now instead of a 25 degree angle, my drivshaft runs at 10 degrees. Compare this pic with the earlier one. I think it should be fine, what do you guys think? http://i56.tinypic.co...

Re: de-rusting a 7 HP gas tank.

I know it sounds scary, but the last tank I had to clean I just popped the top off an old battery and dumped the acid in. Top it off with water so it was full and let it sit for two days...clean as a whistle.

Re: Spoke rims

or I suppose you could weld two collars for say 1.5" keyed shaft inside each end of the center hubs then make some flanged 1.5" keyed spindles that bolt to the axles, but I don't really see a benefit over my first suggestion. There's always a way with a plasma cutter, a welder, and a machine shop.

Re: Spoke rims

I think I would have some flanges with the cub bolt pattern cut out of 3/8 plate and weld them directly to the inside of the center hubs. That is if you could index the flange so the spokes don't block your lugnut access. Those wheels were never meant to be drive wheels so I can't see any other way ...

Re: 4a084 125

I installed my mazda starter today on my 84. I'm not clear on what modifications were supposed to be done to make it work. I just used a 10mm bolt threaded into the bottom ear and a 5/16 bolt and nut on the top ear to allow me to roll the drive deeper into the ring gear. It seems to work ok, little ...

Re: 4a084 125

got my driveshaft put together, but the angle is pretty severe... about 25 degrees. What do you guys think? Workable or
not? In order to lower the engine anymore I would have to notch the heck out of the frame, and I would rather not.

Re: 4a084 125

I have tried the 24v starter on 12v and it didn't work at all. I'm looking at the mazda starter conversion. Anyway... I'm planning on building a foot control setup for my hydro with the 4a084. I have flipped the charge pump to accomodate the reverse rotation. The question is do I need to flip the ca...

4a084 125

Here you are! I was wondering where everyone went... Hopefully this site will be as active as the old one was. Anyway, I finally got back on my 4a084 125 project after about 2 years off. Apparrently I just missed the "Redneck Nationals" at my local dragstrip that included mower drag racing. They are...
