Aaron makes a pretty nice blade. Ask him he may be able to add some ends to make it like the blades you are talking about. He has always been good to work with for me.

Paul,
Great job and great idea. Would have been a neat option back in the day.

Re: repowering a 782
Allen, My vote is for the Command. I have a 23 hp in my 1872 and one of my Greene machines too. I also have a couple more on the shelf waiting to be installed in something when I find the right project. I just mowed with the 1872 for the first season and the Command is a monster that sips fuel. No c...

International 240 PTO
I have been looking at some larger tractors and have come across some IH 240 Utility tractors with the NON-Live PTO on them. Looking through the web for info it looks like the IH240's came with the Non-Live PTO an the Farmall 240 Row Crop tractors came with Live PTO. Wondering if it is possible to s...

Tim, Yes that is real convenient. I rebuilt the engine on my O and it actually broke the recoil dogs pretty quickly right after it was together. It has a lot of compression. These are my 3 recoils for now. The 70 is one the Paul Bell redid a while back. P7070118sm.jpg P7070120sm.jpg P9070092sm.jpg

Re: Playn' with a 71
Tim love to see the recoil starts. The 71 is the only one I am missing for the 7hp series and all of mine except the 73 are recoils. I use my 72 around the house to pull carts and such. The recoils would be the last to go if things had to leave. They are just fun to play with.

Darn, Had to try Vince. You never know.
He should be real happy with the deck and then you can make the SnapOn guy even happier.

Vince, No Way your 60" deck will fit under that. Just send that up to me I have on that will fit perfectly. Ok, Maybe I lied a little. It should fit fine being from and 2072. I have one sitting here that needs a tractor. Probably won't get one this year unless I get one of those really go...

Tim, You will need a relief valve. Depending on how many circuits you want the new Prince Wolverine series is available from Surplus center very reasonable and has a relief built into it. On the screen I would do some searching to find a similar screen that is the right size to screw into the trans ...

Re: Gear drive Hydraulics
With a simple gear pump system you can chew up a lot of crap and not hurt the pump. They are fairly robust. I would just put a screen on the suction side and then run a return filter. Suction side filter if too restrictive can be more destructive through cavitation of the pump than the small debris ...

Bruce, Have some fun with it and build up a nice Command about 25 hp and custom exhaust and some other bells and whisltes if you have the money. The commands sound great and have plenty of power to have fun with. The pullers are making all kinds of hop up parts and as long as you don't go too extrem...

Just a thought on Kroil. It is expensive, but if you have friends and can split it buy the gallon can. I got a few of the empty pint cans from work and then a friend and I just split the gallon and refilled the pints. You could use any metal can and even put it in one of the refillable spray units t...

Kevin,
Thanks for the info. I have heard and seen a couple of the 782 kits, but never knew they had one for the 982. When you have time I would like to see pics. No hurry, just curious how it mounts. The 982 has a little different steering setup than other IH tractors.
Thanks,
John

Kevin,
What is the story with the power assist on the steering? Did it come on the tractor or is it something you put together? That is a neat idea in my book.

Matt,
The shaft has a center already in it from the machining process and you are only drilling 1/2" deep or so. It worked pretty good. I really had no desire to tear this pump apart at that time.

Re: More help on my 1872
Todd,
I found it easier to drill the shaft than the coupler. The couplers I have were hard as heck. I couldn't even get the cobalt bits to do much. Either way would work, the shaft was easier for me.

Re: More help on my 1872
Drilling the shaft is no big deal. I did mine in the tractor. Put a vise grip on the rear output end and then drill slow. The shaft seemed to be case hardened slightly, which makes sense with the splines. That is why I bought a Cobalt bit to get through the case hardened layer.

Re: More help on my 1872
Vince, This is the only pic I have of it. Unfortunately, it is all together. If you get the right couple for the CV shaft the splines fit and it is held on with a bolt into the end of the input shaft instead of the roll pin like the rag joint coupler. Just drill and tap the end of the shaft for the ...

Re: More help on my 1872
Vince,
I'll do some more digging, but I got my drive shaft from Ray. It is the CV style from the Command powered super and was a perfect fit. The only somewhat hard part is drilling/tapping the hydro input shaft to hold on the CV coupler. I bought a cobalt drill bit and went slow, then tapped it.

I know when I put the CV shaft in it came from the command powered super and was 26.?? long. It was the l...

Re: 800 starter brushes
Paul, Take the end cap to a good old fashion hardware store and look in the hillman drawers. My local hardware store has which has change to Do It Best now has a good selection and you might find a match there. Otherwise a good starter or motor repair shop should have something close that might work.
