Update on my 100
I had some time to work on the 100 again over the weekend. First I focused on getting it running which was actually fairly easy after I got good connections in the wiring. Then after driving it around the yard a few times I had to do something about the steering. It had a lot of play in it and the s...

Got a 100 and 129
I have been trying to find a decent CC for a while now and most I've seen have been either over priced or worn out. Well over this past weekend I managed to find two. First I found a 129 that's in fair shape but hasn't run for roughly 10 years. After I bought it I got a lead on a guy who bought and ...

Cub Cadet Original
Hi everyone, it's been awhile since I've posted on here. Since last time I sold my 147, it needed more work than it was worth to me. I did keep the engine though, and we plan to put it in my brother's 104. Anyway about a month ago my brother bought an Original and I ended up trading him for it. It w...

Re: My future project

I've been wanting to biuld something custom for a while now and figured I have to start somewhere. Luckily I have some friends that have more experience with fabricating and welding then I do and ...

My future project
I thougt of this the other day when I saw a picture of a custom articulated Cub Cadet. I have also been wanting to try to build a tractor with a dump bed on the back. So I thougt why not combine the two. After all it is a just an articulated CC with one more axel. I want it to work like one of the a...

Re: Difference between narrow frame and wide frame
Here is a picture to give a rough idea of the differences. The one in the back is a 147 and the front one is a 128.

Re: Front axel question
Matt, To answer your question Yes if you take the complete 129 axle and spindles it will go right into the 147. In fact front axles are pretty much forward and backward compatible for prob 30 years of the cubs. so long you use the entire assembly. There is no question that the WF front axle was a s...

Front axel question
I am thinking about replacing the front axel on my 147 with one from a 129 as an easier way to improve the steering. Just looking at the tractor I think it will work wothout a problem but I'm not sure since I haven't done it yet.
Has anyone here attempted this swap and if so is it straight forward?

Picked up a 129 for parts and future projects
I had been watching this one on CL for a weeks and ended up buying it a week ago for 150. I sold the deck and my brother and I are going to use the rest for parts to rebuild our CC's. The engine is going in my brother's 104 and it is already in but we have having some techinal difficulties with gett...

Thanks for the suggestions. I will check all the areas.
It may be the head gasket becasue we replaced a blown one on it less than a year ago.

Re: Engine question
No this one isn't for sale. We didn't think to check the fuel line or flow so I will check that. I think my brother may have overheated it one day when he was trying to mow very thick and heavy grass. Would that have caused anything to go wrong in the engine?

147 hydro relief valve removal?
Can anyone help me with removing the relief valves on my 147? It sat over winter and the relief valves are now stuck open so the tractor won't move. Is there any way to get them out without removing the whole transmission? So far I have loosened the tranny to try to get enough room but that hasn't w...

Re: Your first cub cadet
When me moved to our new house I wanted to get an old CC to cut the grass with but I was to young to get a job and never had enough money for one. About two years later I had to go to Walmart one night for my mom and to get there I go down back roads. Anyway on the way back I was looking around and ...

Re: Frozen Engine
I guess I got lucky with the JD M we have at work then. It has been sitting in the same spot for about 10-15 years and wasn't touched for about the same amount of time. All I had to do to get it started was drain the old gas out, do a quick clean on the carb and clean the points and it fired right u...

Re: Cub Cadet 147
I do plan on restoring eventually. It does have it's fair share of dents but it is still really solid except for the seat. The seat pan is being held on by a very thin piece of metal around one bolt LOL. It is a reall workhorse too! I was using it to mow brush which some of it was at least 5 five ta...

Cub Cadet 147
I got this 147 a little over a year ago when I saw it sitting behind a house in the weeds. The second time I drove past the house I decided to stop and ask about it. The guy said if we could get it on my truck I could have it. So we pulled it out and of the weeds and to get it on my truck I had to b...
