Re: My 106 Refurb/Mod

Thanks, Guys for all the cool comments. Jlaws,The rear fenders are from an old Bolens 800. I added a filler panel on the bottom so that I could bolt them to the axles. PGHsteelworker, The rear rims are modiied. They are I think from an early Dodge Caravan 14x6. The bolt pattern was cut out and rever...

Re: My Cub Cadet 100 Build/Mod

Thanks, gentlemen for the nice comments. Mr.Paul, you are correct,I used a wide frame front axle and modified the spindles to give me the 2" lift I needed to compensate for the 27x7.5x12 rear tires on 12 x 7 rims (wheel horse style with more offset). The tires are Interco Interforce ATV tires .The tall...

Re: Balance gears?

F.Watson, #1. I suppose the balance gears were intended to reduce vibration in the single cylinder engine. #2.Your engine more than likely does not have balance gears. I have read that most aqs engines in the quietline series did not have balance gears. Do a search on this site for balance gears,you...

I put the narrow front rims with new Deestone 4.00x8 tri-ribs on my 100.I like the way it looks, and it steers unbelievably easy!!

Re: Correct width front rims for a 100?

Thanks TIM DeLooza. That is good info. In that picture, the front tires still look like the narrow 4.80/4.00x8,,,,,they have the diamond studs on the outside and 4 ribs in the center just like the 4.80/4.00x8.Was the "wide traction tires" option just wider rears or were the front rims wider too?

Re: help! I have carburetor problems

I got my 128 running good and it is finished (refurbished) and ready to use. I got a #26 carburetor from Ray,took it apart and cleaned it up.It needed a new needle valve, float, bowl and gaskets. Backed out the high speed jet 2 turns, and the low speed jet out 1-1/2 turns.Started it up and it runs perf...

Re: Correct width front rims for a 100?

Thanks, guys, for the info. I guess my 100 came with the wider wheels option. It has the 7" rims on the back. I have 3 sets of narrow front rims and a new set of 4.00x8 tri-ribs.I have been trying to decide which tractor to put them on.I believe I will put them on this my nicest refurbished 100.I will ...

Correct width front rims for a 100?

Did a 1964 Cub Cadet come equiped with narrow front rims,or were they available with either narrow or wide front rims? I have a 1964 100,and it has wide front rims.If it came out with narrow rims,I want to put narrow rims back on it. Thanks

Re: engine cranking

I had similar problems with a cheap import voltage regulator that I bought off e-bay. I put it on,then started the tractor and it charged, but when I turned off the switch, the starter kept turning the engine.I had to take the battery cable off to get it to stop.I Tried it on another tractor and it di...

Re: Balance gears?

I got this K301 in the 128 back together and running.I am glad I took out the balance gears, now I won't have to worry. It runs pretty smooth, not much vibration at all.Just a bit more than the 10 hp in my 100's. Not anywhere near as much vibration as the K321 in my 1450.But that's a whole 'nuther sub...

Re: help! I have carburetor problems

The carburetor is definitely the culprit.I put another carb on it off another tractor and it ran fine. So,I soaked the carb for 2 days in carb cleaner and put it back on.Same problems.I don't know what else to do to it,so I ordered another carb from Ray.

help! I have carburetor problems

I have a Kohler Carter #26 carburetor on a K301 that I just can't get to run right. I have soaked it in lemon juice, put in a rebuild kit,new carb to engine gasket, sanded the mounting flange flat, put in throttle shaft bushing, but it still wont run right. It "surges" continuously, and it won't idle with...

Has anyone put an AQS in a solid mount frame such as a 149?

I would like to know if anyone has tried putting an AQS engine out of a quiet line into a solid mount frame, such as a K321AQS into a 149 frame . And did it vibrate more than or less than it did when iso mounted in the quietline frame? Concerning the AQS engines, does the engine itself vibrate more t...

Balance gears?

I was replacing an aluminum oil pan that was leaking with a cast iron one on a K301 on a 128 and I noticed it had balance gears. They seem pretty loose on the shaft. Should I remove them, and is it possible to do so without removing the crankshaft?
Thanks

Re: I bought a Cub Cadet 100 to "refurbish"

Here is a picture of another Cub Cadet I just "refurbished" mechanically. As you can see,it is a "hybrid". I don't plan to paint this one,as you can see it is a "work tractor".It runs and operates just great, but it is a little rough.I sanded the rust and sprayed clear over it to protect it.It looks ...
