Re: Winter Snow and Storm Pics
And the grand total is
This is more than the entire Winter produced.
Funny how it stayed at 11 1/2 yesterday for the longest time while actively snowing, it must have been packing down.
The resort close by us reported 27 inches but they do have quite a bit more elevation going on.

Re: Winter Snow and Storm Pics
We had quite quite a mild Winter this year with much of it consisting of warmer than usual temperatures and more rain than normal. While the Northern ski resorts did not have their best of years ever they could have done worse off as well. Plunging temps allowed many to continue running their snow m...

Re: Coolspring engine show
Hi Charlie, yes sir I am talking about the June show. Sorry that I did not state that more clearly. Since I'm planning staying on for the duration I'd like to meet up with any members from our group that are there. Folks, please chime in if you are, the time is now. If possible I'd like for you to P...

It's an entery level receiver same as mine but if you were a 12 year old kid with one back in the day you were the envy of the neighborhood! I happen to have the factory owners manual for it. Re: Ham and CB chatter
Now this is pretty cool. The executors of the estate where that S-119 came from were going through a bunch of stuff and turned up the factory owners and service manual. Rather than tossing it or placing it to auction they sent it directly to me without so much as letting me know about it first, they...

Thanks Dave. Yes, I'm partial to Hallicrafters in the same way others find themselves partial to International Harvester. It all depends on what you like. This one responded to a full electrical restoration very well. It can receive single side band however without a band spread control that can bec...

Oh jees, not another one. So some considered this thing a toy, well it's no toy. s-l1604.jpg Produced from 1960 to 1964 the Sky Buddy II had an extremely limited production run. As in think thin axle O. Sold in operational assembled condition or as a kit, designation model S-119 was a very attractiv...

I figured that I best get my rear off the couch yesterday and tidy things up before the big freeze rolled in. I went for a short one mile only walk today because it was not very enjoyable. Re: Winter Snow and Storm Pics
Tom, much of that saga is over. After fifteen years of fighting back against the excess water run off and with the neighbor saying oh there's a pipe there to take of that, someone bothered checking to see if it was actually doing anything. Well guess what. DSCN1512.JPG DSCN1513.JPG I don't know what...

Re: Winter Snow and Storm Pics
Happy 2024 and here we go again! This is our first real storm of the Winter, we did have a good snow just prior to Thanksgiving but it really did not stick around for long with rising temperatures shortly thereafter. This one will be sticking around. The weather forecast called for light powder but ...

Pretty sure I got everything I need right here :) DSCN1716.JPG DSCN1719.JPG DSCN1721.JPG But I would not mind having that Fisher 800B though. Used to have an 800C. Trouble with them is they can turn into money pits big time real quick. A quad set of those 7591's can hit 600 bucks if you can find the...

Have received a report that my S-76 is complete, nicely burned in, and re aligned. Sounds like he played it all weekend long. Some before and after images were attached along with his invoice and I'd thought it nice to just be able to compare side by side. Chassis tear down before cleaned. IMG_01 2....

Re: Ham and CB chatter
Several weeks ago I sent my S-76 out for a full electro mechanical restoration. Reports indicate that good progress is being made. I opted out from doing a full cosmetic restoration so it will never again look brand new as the one pictured above. My decision to go that way was based on the fact that...

There was time today to put the 43 through it's paces and it performed very well. That one is a keeper. DSCN1658.JPG Because the audio output is either 500 or 5000 ohm based a matching transformer had to be installed between a standard speaker and the output side. This little matching transformer in...

It does not make a lot of sense to me even with my limitations. Without an in line dropping resistor the voltages would be running jacked up inside all over. Such was never the intended design. Good used or new old stock 5Y3 rectifier tubes can still be had on eBay, it's not like they are impossible...

This SX- 43 is a work in progress. Produced in 1947. DSCN1481.JPG What would make this unit desirable is it was one of the very first receivers to offer FM reception from 85 to 110 Mhz. In those days the standard 88 to 108 band spread had not even been officially set in place. Someone fooled around ...

Hi Joe, hey thank you for asking. We are towing the line here all right with some damage to the driveway but it's still very passable. Plenty of folks all around us have had their lives smashed and I'm doing my bit by not turning into a galking bystander. Water has been running down our hill for a w...
