582 Cub Cadet

I went out to mow with my 582 Cub Cadet and went to turn on the PTO and the engine about died and the charge gauge went way over to discharge. I checked the voltage with no load and it is 14 volts so I checked the stator voltage and the best I can tell not easy to get into that plug its got around 2...

I want to thank everyone for the info this is a lot help as I am still tossing around ideas on what I am going to do. I cleared the driveway when I lived at home growing up and I used a 100 Cub Cadet till the motor went in it and my dad got a 122 Cub Cadet to replace it with and they done a real job...

I tried the blade on my 582 Cub Cadet when we had the snow in March it was around 15in and wet the 582 couldn't push it go a little and start spinning. Dag1450 thank you for the info yes our snows are mostly wet heavy snows sometimes they are dry we don't know what winter will bring us anymore. I was thinking about a hydro. to get the hyd. lift mostly and I am going to leave the blower on the tractor as I have gear drives for mowing and working aro...

I looked at the 582 Special Cub Cadet some more and I removed both spark plugs and the right side sitting on tractor was hit by the valve it looked like. I rolled the engine over and that side valve is moving about half way across the spark plug hole. The other side don't even make it to the threads...

I saw somewhere if the crankcase breathers on the 16hp Briggs and Stratton get stopped up that they will use oil. I was wondering if it is common to one side because I can get one side new but not the other side I am going to check mine out to see what kind of shape they are in. Thanks, Joey.

I am looking at 582 Special Cub Cadet and was wondering if anyone has ever changed one over to a real gear drive? Jeff in PA thanks for the video if our winters ever go back to what they used to be I will get one for the 582 cub cadet so it will be quick attach. I think the plow will do for now I hope, we can never tell what winters is going to bring anymore. Thanks, Joey.

Thanks everyone for the comments I thank my dad a lot for the 1872 cub cadet. I am going with the advice I got here to I got a set of tires that is filled and has 2 link chains on them and I am going to try them this winter and I will ad the wheel weights also. I wanted a super cub but I didn't want hydro so my dad said lets build a gear drive and it took a year to build it but that was working on it when we both got time. I found what was wrong with the 2185 cub the guy put a new battery in it before he brought to me and it was hooked up wrong.I hooked it right and it started right up and run fine.
