Re: 1782 glow plugs

Frank, I have the later model serial number. The easiest way to tell for me is to look at the tunnel cover. The earlier serial numbers had a steel tunnel cover, the later model has the plastic cover. -Ray 782D and 1572 have different glow plugs than the 1772 and 1782. If my memory serves this old gu...

Re: 1782 glow plugs

Matt, The 1782 already has an inline relay and wiring. I wonder if I took the Kubota part number to NAPA if they could cross reference it for me... -Ray For the D600B engines at least, the 'new' glow plugs are NGK Y103V and about $8 each from NAPA. You will have to add an additional solenoid and wir...

Re: 1782 glow plugs

So after I posted this question last year I got sidetracked and never followed up on it. In the last few days we had a foot of snow and I had a heck of a time trying to get the 1782 started. I ended up killing the battery which just added to my frustration. I finally grabbed a piece of wire and manu...

Hey Allan, I see that you're not too far away, I live in Rhode Island myself... Welcome, there's some great information to be had here and the people aren't so bad either! One of my cubs is a 682 with a blown motor so I feel your pain, if there's a replacement for your motor to be had these guys wil...

Re: Thank you Santa !!

Bryan, I just emailed that guy the other day about his super cab. That would be perfect for my 1782 but I have no way to get it from there to Rhode Island, It's shame too, I've been looking for something like that for over 2 years now. I'm sure I could have it shipped but I'm afraid to even ask abou...

Hey Joe, Looking good, cant wait to see the finished product. I still have a 782 with front hydraulics I picked up a few years ago that I wish I could motivated to start. It's mostly tore down, just the tower and controls left on it. I need to find a place in RI that will sandblast all the sheetmeta...

Hey Pat, Is that air, or liquid cooled? Also, does it make alot of noise? I have been looking at these for awhile now and can't decide which model I want to buy. Hey Frank, They later reopened Chanute as a training facility. I attended tech school there for over a year in 1991. That base had a buttload of students on it, they even sent marines there for advanced observation training etc and the navy used it for their guys too. Those navy guys couldn't march ...

Hey Geezer, I found this searching on google. http://joestradingpost.com/brake_job/ It has a step by step with pictures. According to the site it says to soak it in a penetrating fluid and "beat it with a rubber mallet". I have a 2003 Nissan Murano and had to do the same thing when I replaced the ro...

Hey guys,
I know alot of people talk the cyclops down, but I have a 1782 and that things a beast. There are a few things that normally fail (the plastic cover pins, axle tube bolts loosen/break, etc) but if you keep up with the maintenance it'll do anything you ask of it....

Todd, This is a 1782 (cyclops), not a 782. Are the specs the same for the glow plugs? -Ray Ray, I doubt yours has the newer style plugs uless they have been recently replaced. The service manual for the 782D calls for 1.6 ohms resistance for each plug. I think the original style are still produced, ...

1782 glow plugs

Good afternoon, My 1782 is hard starting and I've seen a few discussions about the older cub glow plug upgrade that involves NGK glowplugs and adding a relay. I believe the 1782 already has the relay and all that? I need to find the service manual and figure out how to test the actual glowplug itsel...

Jim, I had a similar day myself. I started by taking the thrower out and trying to move the mountains of snow that I made with the plow blade. The first thing that happened was I sheared a bolt on the auger. No problem, just replace the bolt, but I only have grade 5 bolts to replace it with. I think...

Re: 1782 problems to look for

Steve, I bought a 1782 early last year. It's a great tractor overall even though it's not without it's issues. I would pay special attention to the following: 1. Look the rear end housing over good, look for cracks, etc. 2. Look at the axle tubes also, make sure the bolts haven't backed out and caus...

Re: 1782 Broken implement lift arm

Steve,
Mine is a 54" also, it's similar to that frame with some subtle differences. The plow has a part number of 701-407 on it, with a serial number of 493163, or 183, it's a little messed up and hard to read near the end.

Ok. That's making me feel a little bit better, it looks similar to the one I have (minus being broken).
