Re: 122 front grill clamps/hold-downs

Your grill was not held in by clips, there are two holes in the bottom of the cast grill housing and two of the studs on the grill fit in these, the top part is held in by the blue blockout panel which fits over it.
Here is the grill...

Re: Cub Flat Belt Pulley on Early Cub Cadet PTO

Does anyone have any diagrams of the guts of the gearbox? How does it attach, or does it simply slide over the existing output shaft and bolt on? Same parts and simply bolt on regardless of model? If I buy a gearbox off of someone, are there internal parts I need to get from the Cub it's coming off...

Those 4 phillips screws attach to the flywheel not the cup.
I had a few strip out and the lock pliers gets them out.

Unplug the connector to the motor and try powering it with a + - from a battery, reversing the wires make it move in and out.

The ones I was taught told saw the older ones have no holes in that area.the newer ones have 2 threaded holes. The oil pan and the block where they mate have thin walls on a original 7 hp, the later ones on a 7 and 8 have thicker walls.

Just my 3¢

No, l palma. I believe what your referring to as a "plug dipstick" is equal to the cam cover oil checker currently mentioned. Those were not around beginning with the Original through the 70/100 series,....or at least I have never seen The plug I mention is the one shown on the block on the right. ...
