Re: 364 snow blower drive pully
It isn't set screwed in place. It is held in place by the bolt that holds the assembly together. Bolt 21 retains the shaft and pulley in place. The shaft gets the washer(31) installed, then the key(10) then the pulley(12). Now you install the shaft through the two bearings(26 &17) with the spacer(18...

Re: WAY off topic Struck Dozer
Paul, Yep that one is belt drive. They are usually pretty trouble free as long as the bearings and pulleys are in good shape. Kind of a snake nest with all the belts but once you look it over the layout becomes logical. On the one in the ad you can see the rear drive pulleys under the seat. There is...

The folks around here don't get to rake many leaves. I usually go around and rake them up, run them through the shredder and spread them on the compost heap. Same thing happens with a lot of junk mail and non glossy papers. Between grass, vegetable scraps, leaves, paper, old cow and horse manure and...

WAY off topic Struck Dozer
Saw this on Craigslist. Looks like it would be fun. Anyone own one?
http://utica.craigslist.org/grd/2095051195.html
I was thinking it would be a neat platform for a custom CC dozer.

Re: Car Trouble Question
That looks very familiar. I think I have a TSB about that problem someplace. What year, make, model is it and I'll look. I would unbolt what is left and drive it. You may notice some extra wallowing with it off. If you know a good welder it could be welded back on.

Scott, Did you see my message? I also told Geezer about it. There is a way to enable .pdf files on the forum. My question was if it's a question of storage room, upload limits or something that I don't know about? From what I read it is a setting that would allow a .pdf to be uploaded to the site as...

Looking around the machine I found these pics from the old site. They are measurements for the frame notches on those "antiques" out there.

Re: 450 snowblower question
I would probably cheat a bit. Pull the gearbox apart. Clean the gear, and sleeve real well along with the key. Center the parts up and apply some locking compound. The loctite bearing retainer compound should do the trick. Then put it back together. Should stop the problem.

Re: Plastic grill housings
Tom, Yep that will work. The Cyclops I saw that was painted up looked great. It made the tractor look a lot more like a real working machine. The yellow/white is OK but it gets dull after a while. Plus "someone" forgot to cover this one a year or so ago when there was painting going on in the next b...

Re: 450 snowblower question
Do you still have the bracket that bolts to the gearbox and up to the blower shell? The drive gear is held centered in the gearbox by the thrust washers on each side. The gear itself mounts to a keyed sleeve that is keyed to the shaft. When they are new the parts are not press fit but they are tight...

Re: Plastic grill housings
The Cyclops factory plastic is an ABS item. The same glue used to join plastic pipe will work on it. I have glued some small bits of mine back together with it. Currently I am thinking of stripping down my 1641, cleaning it real good and painting it black/red. I have seen one painted that way and it...

Yep it is easier to count the revolutions BUT by actually pulling the box apart you can also check the condition of the gears and grease.
Plus I didn't think of just counting the revs...

Re: 450 & 451 snow blowers
Well without an ID tag there is only one way to be 100% sure what you have. Pull the rear gearbox apart and count the teeth on the gears. The 450 will have a drive gear (small) will be 15 teeth and the driven gear (large) tooth count of 28 teeth. 1.87:1 ratio The 451 will have a drive gear (small) w...

Re: My first Super: uh-oh, blown head gasket?
I just have a pet peeve about manufacturers who do this type of thing. It reminds me of the newer Chiltons/Motors auto repair manuals that cover a 15 year vehicle spread when that vehicle had 3 design changes and 15 different engine combination's. They seem to enjoy putting the phrase "Typical item ...

Re: My first Super: uh-oh, blown head gasket?
That works for most of the stuff, except the items that are not in the book :o The engine manuals are not a problem. It's the small stuff that's a PIA. Like the different Hydro unit used in the later GTs, that is different than the ones in the earlier tractors. The different hydro linkage which some...

Re: International Manuals
Scott,
Keep in mind that many of the manuals are available from MTD in .pdf format.
May be a way to save some bandwidth? Just post the link to the MTD manual archive.
http://manuals.mtdproducts.com/mtd/Public.do
Of course it doesn't hurt to keep a copy for the eventual day they stop!!!

The manual for the 450 and 451 are available from MTDs site. Free. This should...

Re: My first Super: uh-oh, blown head gasket?
I have the Cyclops service manual in PDF. BUT the catch is that it actually doesn't cover the later models!!! There actually isn't a service manual that does. It is one of my biggest gripes with Cub Cadet. The 772-4166 covers the 1340, 1535, 1541, 1782, 1860, 1862, 1882, 2082 and 2182. Tractors buil...

I have one that I got through Farmtek. VERY tough material. I had it up for about 2 years when I got lazy and didn't open the door fully. That is one of the items I am unfortunately aware of. I had to do a repair on my 1641 because of stripped threads. I went and looked closer today and may be having it delivered Saturday. Figure I should test it out first.

2284 known issues?
Have a line on a 2284 locally. Bare model with P/S and turning brakes only. Seems to be in good shape and runs good. 60" deck. I was thinking about adding the three point from my 1641 and the front outlets as well. They may have a blower as well. What should I look over close just to make sure it's ...

I had three different Comanche P/Ups. Two were the long boxed Pioneers and the other was a Sport model. All three had the 4.0 with 5 speeds. The long boxed ones were neat, but dismal towing ability... The short box was a hand full in wet weather.

How about a section for each era?
something like
IH built tractors. Originals through MTD purchase.
CCC/early MTD up to the end of the Cyclops.
Current 1000.2000.3000 step through tractors.
Cubs, Low Boys or 154, 184. 185
Compact tractors like the current Yanmars

I have quite a few of the manuals if you need them. The Service manuals for the Cyclops, 82, and 2000 series. Owners manuals for many of the attachments as well. The attachment guide, and various others. Now that I have high speed it makes it MUCH easier to deal with them.
