Re: Best use for a 147?

Do you have a rear sleeve hitch? If so then yes it will work. If you do not have the sleeve hitch option then, no it will not work. Due to the way the rock shaft works, it will assist all attachments front mid rear.

Fan is installed and working, paint on the inside for the sake of sealing the wood and to give more light to reflect off of. After lunch I’ll build a door. The parts washer might actually live inside the booth! I’ll try that out later today too!

The early narrow frames the wiring went over the clutch cover, I believe that was only for the 70/100’s. All replacement harness I’ve seen have enough wire to run them through the frame next to the steering column, to the right of the clutch, under the flywheel starter, and then up the right side of...

The whole point of the door is to keep the dust out of the paint. I was thinking of buying a piece of the clear plastic used for an added layer of Insulation over your windows for winter. It’s faril insulation over your windows for the winter it’s fairly cheep and clear. I’ll make a plywood frame fr...

Re: Bench top paint booth?

The fan came today! I spent a couple hours as I got home a bit early today. I set the fan on top just to see. The big project was the filter holder. I cut the side so I couldn’t slip in a 30x14 filet and made a way to hold it in place. I used scrap angle from some shelf’s. I’ve had them for 5 years,...

All 147’s had electric lift. If converted, it could have been converted to either Crome or painted manual lift.

Re: Bench top paint booth?

Dag the plan is to hang uni-strut (kindorf) on the inside.
I do like hanging spinning idea, the plan was to get one for the bottom.
Our A/c unit in the house uses 14x30 I’m going use the same size In case it clogs up, I always keep a few around.

Re: Bench top paint booth?

So I stopped at Home Depot on the way home $50 bought me 2 2’ LED lights and 10’ duct for the fan, my only expense so far. I looked at plexiglass for the door, super thin and 75$ for a piece that is a few inches to small. I could make it work. I would need to build a frame of some sort to stiffen th...

Bench top paint booth?

So I’m in the middle of doing a working “refresh” of a 86 I have. Also a friend it here working on a “restoration” of a 72. Lots of painting and sand blasting. Between the overspray and the fumes I decided to look into a small “booth”. After looking around on line it seams that the cheep units are j...

Year after year we see wash out ice and spin outs on your driveway. I’ve never been to your place, but it’s seams like a boat load of cash and a couple days with a excavator and some pipe/new gravel are all in order! ?!?

As for the lift rod, I think it’s about 31” I make new ones from a good used factory rod as a sample. I’ll see if I can get y...

Re: Best use for a 147?

Dag I think you mean qa42 vs qa42a. The “a” is newer and most people say it refers to the fact that it’s adjustable for the wide frame. I’m not a fan of the single stage blowers, 2 stage or nothing for me! I have 2 147’s one I converted to manual for the original owner. Now it just sits on the shelf...

I think I’d rather have the 6-12 it looks like your getting then the 1/2” of ice they are calling for here! I’d like to stay home tomorrow, but I’m guessing I’ll leave on time and show up late! I’ll get up early and sand the driveway so I’m not in the woods across the street as I try to leave...

Re: Cub blower for the first time!

Well the fuel pump didn’t change much. I messed with carb and gov. Settings and finally tossed the air filter completely. I got 30-50 feet as advertised! These things can be picky and it would take some getting used to the amount you can take in one bite. But they do work quite well! I also see why ...

Re: Cub blower for the first time!

Thanks Steve I’ll swap pumps and go from there. I found 2 oem idlers a bit cheeper then direct at a dealer with an old price list. The 551 isn’t really the upgrade, the 2082 is! If the 1863 sells as is I’ll need to order a push to lift bracket as that’s the old one I have and the 2082 has the newer ...

Re: Cub blower for the first time!

Steve
It seams the P.O. left it at the deal for service work and they installed a electric fuel pump when the vacuum pump went bad. Think I should swap it out for a new China vacuum pump? I listed it just for kicks, I’ve got a 2082 out back 6” pto and a 551 here too... if it sells I’ll up grade!

IH logo looks correct In the last picture.
I don’t think I’ve seen the IH and the no step decal on the same deck?
Safety decal goes on the discharge side facing outward.

So I lubbed the chute and all over the impeller. 3’ of trainings from the side of the driveway and it clogged up. I pulled it back in and removed the chute clogger! See picture 72809D68-2C69-4117-BD2B-D1BD09CF4461.jpeg After this I was getting 10-15 feet from the 4’ tall bank I tried to move. It was...

I never did double check the blower gear box, I suppose it was changed to a 450 back in the day, but then it would spin faster with the larger pto?

Re: Cub blower for the first time!

Steve It’s the larger 6” pto. 451 is correct for it as it came off a 1863. Every 140/1641 and 1863/64 I’ve seen had the 6” PTO. I believe the change your referencing came about in the m18 era, 1541,1862 etc. I never tried the 1864 last night, I shoveled the places no cub or walk behind could get to ...

Cub blower for the first time!

While I have messed with cubs for over 20 years I’ve mostly plowed. I had a qa42 on a 125 back around 2000 for one season. It was the original paint bearings etc and everything just clogged up. Seeing as we have 12-18” falling outside I spent some time yesterday and mounted a 451 on a 1864 I have he...

I would match the cubs too, I like antique white rust oleum is a closer match to the color, but I prefer the ace hardware store brand as it dries in about 20 minutes.
