BM - D2 seems like a pretty stand up guy, and you compare him to Dag? Harsh!! Hey, D2, next time try https://www.messicks.com/ They've an easy to use look-up similar to PartsTree, but usually better prices and reasonable shipping. I've actually driven up there for parts once, but shipping...

Re: 782 Choke Knob & Cable Problem
Kevin has an excellent point. The original ignition switch would have provided 12V to power the coil with a points system. The Command (and Magnum) use a magneto which needs an entirely different ignition switch. The ignition switch for a magneto ignition replaces the "12V power to coil" with a p...

Re: 782 Choke Knob & Cable Problem
Kohler Command? Are you sure it's not a Magnum? At any rate, you can download the engine manuals from the Kohler website. If it is a Magnum, very likely that the magneto is bad. Pretty easy job other than you have to remove the engine to get to it. Don't believe the posts by people that said th...

Re: 782 Choke Knob & Cable Problem
As Kevin says, likely just the inner cable frozen inside the cable housing from some rust. With the style that doesn't have an outer plastic jacket you might first try dribbling some penetrating oil on the outside of the housing and it will seep through the spirals of the outer housing. I've been ...

Re: The Official Weather Thread!
That's just how weather goes sometimes. For my area I'm waiting for the snow cycle to start again. We always go a few years without much snow, people start claiming it'll never snow again, then we get hit hard! I think I'd be fine if I never had to mount up the blower again!

+1 on Ray Weaver. He doesn't give parts away, but he won't do you wrong, and he'll make it right if something doesn't go how it's supposed to. Myself and dag have met at Ray's a few times for a visit, always interesting visiting Ray!

Ken - So sorry, that is tough luck. I was in the same boat a few years ago, discovered my latest "new to me" tractor had a broken transmission case. A shave and haircut turned into a major project before I could use it. I'm not intimately familiar with this particular engine, but I'm assuming that...

Jon - Welcome. This site has most of us into the older/vintage garden tractors, not much traffic on here for zero turns. I'm just mentioning this as you'll see a lack of responses as we just don't have familiarity for your machine. That said, some general advice... The best case scenario is to ha...

Steve, yeah, my feeling is with the first nice day of spring I'm always already behind! Do the best you can, get to it when you can get to it. But in this post they did not? Any way to be sure we retain the traditional emojis from the right hand pane?

Ken - Wow, and we thought winter was about over and you'd escaped a saga this year! Not to be! I'm glad you and the neighbors survived relatively unscathed in the end. But, while you're going through it, you don't know for sure the power will be back in time. Glad it worked out.

Ken - I find in the real world, there really aren't all that many coincidences, so hopefully this will be it. I mean, really, how much can really be destined to fail all at the same time? Lol  I don't see how bad points could wipe out the coil, but very easily the other way around... An interna...

Re: K 241 running badly
Ken, I think you've got it nailed now. Nothing lost addressing the carb, finger tight mounting bolts and dried up gaskets were either part of the problem or about to be. I agree that coils aren't always digital, they can cause intermittent problems as they start to fail and can therefore be difficul...

Joe, you pretty much covered all the bases, but will he need a different length driveshaft with the non Briggs options? I'm too lazy look it up and I know you probably know off the top of your head!

Re: K 241 running badly
I think dag was mentioning blue threadlocker for the mounting bolts. Threadlocker on the bolts would be fine, but probably not needed if properly torqued. Also, as Ken says, gasket sealant at carb base should never be needed and is generally a bad idea. Too many small holes nearby that could pick so...
