Re: snow thrower belt size

Todd, I'm not quite sure what's going on myself, I have never given the IH-55053-C1 a try on my QA42 but maybe I should. I was never very impressed with the power transfer from the one I show in the view- the two that I tried seemed to slip a lot under tough, heavy wet snow conditions. They did hold...

Interesting, my dealer has insisted on more than one occasion this is the one to use for that particular application.

Re: Your first cub cadet

A good topic indeed. I still have it today :D After a ten year stint repairing and rebuilding tractors and attachments for my Father in law at his farm (all International products), I purchased my first Cub, a 100 on Thanksgiving week 1984. It was in rough shape but by the following Summer and much ...

Re: Pulley

I purchased one from a group member that was very reasonably priced and in nice condition too. There was quite a wobble to it upon mounting to the shaft. Inspection with econo pins showed that it had been bored to .508. That's way too loose. My solution to this was chucking it into a lathe and press...

Well, as far as I'm concerned it's way too early in the season for this kind of nonsense. The highway department people and contractors here have their hands tied fixing our washed out roads with rock and fill after the hurricane- now that window of time is being slammed off on them. I have n...

Vince,
Be careful.
You will be amazed by the amount of BOOM! a totally empty gas tank can produce when sweating it apart
Do it outside, face the filler spout away from you, and wear glasses. Make that a face shield instead

They are a good machine. One of the less common models made. At the time the hydros were becoming more fashionable hence roughly four times as many 127's were made. According to the posted production figures 5247 of the 126's were produced. Here's mine waiting for the first snowflake to fall out of ...

Re: 71 cub cadet 126

CCW looking at pulley is correct rotation. Where did you get this unit and what is the number on the case tag? While not a guarantee, checking the S/G tag number is a beginning point, common numbers for Cub are 1101996, 1101997, 1101691, or 1101692. There are some others but these seem to prevail. T...

Ben, 40MM O.D. x 17MM I.D. x 12MM thickness are the dimension of the bearing used for a starter generator. When using a replacement sealed version of that bearing at the pulley side of a starter generator, the old circular stamped bearing dust shield (I'm not talking about the tri oval felt retainer...

Re: Spark plugs and a good ground

I did a lot of experimenting with platinum plugs in these engines around seven years ago. At that time Autolite was making a platinum plug which was a direct replacement in size, reach, and heat range for the Champion H-10. Everyone is entitled to do what ever they like, however my conclusion was th...

This year I'm going give these Kenda 10.5s mounted on 8.5 wheels at try- they are getting fitted with 2 link chains with cross bars. While it may be 80 degrees here with a dew point about the same it's time for me to start preparing for the Winter season. I have one, maybe two cuttings left for the season. Kevin, you probably already know this but I suppose it's worth repeating Check the serial # tag to verify if it is a true 169. A 129 will have a four digit machine code of 0046, a 149 will be 0047 and a 169 will be 0048. Yeah, I'm looking inside of a barn at one of those things too Maybe I will mayb...
