Re: Spark nock problem solved
Vince, The need for 110 AV fuel in a flathead that can't possibly have a higher compression ratio than 9 to 1is something of a hard sell to me. I run a K series that is both block decked and head shaved and it gets along on 89 octane just fine. In fact I have noticed some dropoff in throttle respons...

Pan seat repair
Well, the last time that I had to repair a crack in this seat was back in 85- so all things considered the repair lasted longer than when it was brand new
Not exactly a show stopper for looks but then again it never really was to begin with

Re: High boss VS Low boss Kohler head
Many folks are under the impression that all low boss style heads have the spark plug over the exhaust valve. That's simply not the case. DSCN0209.JPG This one is also a heart style head, it will offer the most compression of the three general series of heads. DSCN0210.JPG While the truth may never ...

It would seem that I did, mold stones and sandpaper took most of the damage right out.
Just lucky this time- for once
Might as well rebuild the carb while I'm in there, Vince the head snapped off it did not back out- that's what I can't get - Tue Oct 12, 2010 5:35 pm

Knock knock, who's there?
I still can't get over this one. My son spent his day pulling cord wood down off the big hill with the 100. Today was a good day to start working the auger back into shape. So the auger bearings came in today
What's wrong with this picture- not exactly what I have in mind but at least there are a lot less parts on the floor now

I have seen this belt too, there is no way it could possibly be correct. It's about the thickness of a clothesline. And it's clearly marked JH-490489-R2 on the top. Ray, can you explain what you mean by warranty :?: Has a new batch been made up? Has a new part number been issued? My dealer did not s...

The plan at this point is to cover the badly damaged lower area with new metal- this strip is 1 1/4" x 18" x 1/8" thick. It will be welded all the way around once it's been securely tacked. Mike and Joe, in regards to our talk today I started surfing around once we came home. We have dozens of torque wrenches out on the production floor at any given time ranging from 30 inch pound dial types to the 150 foot pound clicker types- all are required to pass regular calibration tests. By far the ones that require the most attention are the clicker types in the 50 to 150 foot p...

Grant, as Dave pointed out there are many types of aftermarket switches out there, I myself would go with the OEM type switch to avoid the whole Murphy's Law syndrone. The part number that I am coming up with is IH-61524-C3 and it should be about thirty dollars. I think there is a real good chance t...
