If anyone attends, I look forward to a report about how things were sold (lots?), and what kinda prices were being fetched.
I hope it is not bad news causing the owner to sell.

Re: Parts by Jeff-sleeve hitch, PTO buttons and custom parts
Hello Jeff, Ever thought of designing/building a better PTO pulley? The stock version is flimsy/thin: - makes it prone to distortion - doesn't contribute to engine torque (but I assume it could with weight) - is most likely not balanced - without your removal tool, easily bent during removal - does ...

I am so saddened to hear stories like this, when someone seemingly suffers in hiding/silence, then shocks the world around them (not so small anymore either) with such drastic action.
I am thankful for the friendliness on this site, even though we are unlikely to ever meet.

No damaged bearings...?!
When I rebuilt a tranny last year that had the same guck inside as yours, my gears/splines were not nearly in as bad shape as yours, but every bearing was shot!

Re: 147 carburetor throttle shaft
I use these to make bushings.Hard rubber washers in a plumbing kit I have.I had to drill them out with a 1/4 drill and file the diameter a little and the fit nice and tight. So, I'm rebuilding a K321 from a 147, and am now at the carburetor stage... Naturally, I came here to inform myself about pot...

Re: New From N. Central Pa.
Welcome Roger! PA seems to be an excellent state for acquiring IHCCs and parts... The front grill is one of a few easy pieces you can make out of various flast sheet/grill material... Makes your tractor 'yours' with a grill you don't see anywhere else. (I onced used a portion of a chrome firepit gri...

FYI, I am rebuilding a K321 and am not putting the balance gears back in. (I've also been told they're only effective, if at all, at idle.) I am putting the cam cover with dipstick back on, and will try to find an automotive breather to fit the fill tube which had a 'fake' dipstick. (I am not worrie...

Re: valve keepers movement
I recently found a semi-retired, micro-enterprise, local machinist who will give me time of day... :D He ground the end of that valve stem for me, and I was able to back out the adjuster and adjust my valve clearance properly. I ended up just reusing the keepers that I have, and will chance that the...

Re: replace front PTO clutch with flywheel
I now realize that with a starter-generator, this idea becomes a lot harder to accomplish... Can install the starting pulley (with basket) and that might leave enough room for a solid disk on front. Might not be an easy proposition to make it an easy 'put on-take off' activity though. Not there yet;...

replace front PTO clutch with flywheel
Hi all, I am building a stock tractor for pulling things around the yard and having fun in the small local stock pulling association. The latter has a Red Neck class where anything goes. Several stock pullers simply add weights and pull again in that class. I don't plan on putting a front PTO clutch...

Forgot to mention... Since that problematic exhaust valve has already been lapped and mated to a new valve guide, I am probably better off shortening the stem by .030 as suggested, and looking for keepers with a wider shoulder...

Re: valve keepers movement
Many thanks again Ken! I ordered a rebuild kit from eBay about 1.5yrs. ago. At some point in time, I realized the exhaust valve shipped was the incorrect size. (Apparently, K321's can come with one of two exhaust valve sizes.) Got an additional valve shipped from eBayer after explaining that I did n...

Re: valve keepers movement
Hey LFR! I thought of something while I was sleeping on it... The keeper should not travel up&down its groove as there should always be spring pressure keeping it at the 'bottom' of the groove. I think. It would be nice to receive confirmation, and also confirmation that a keeper with a wider 'shoul...

valve keepers movement
Hi all, As some of you may know, I am rebuilding my 1st engine... So I got a pair of new valves, and I just noticed that one of them has a wider groove for the valve keeper than the old ones... I.e.: the keepers have a lot more room to move up/down than 'normal'. It concerns me. Are keepers with a w...

Thanks again Ken; I'll take another look.
Shortly after installing both bearings and the crankshaft, seals were next. I found that a short piece of ABS pipe was a reasonable tool to drive those seals into place to the correct depth.
Cheers,

Re: Shielded crankshaft bearings
Thanks Klapatta. I kept my old bearings. I don't think they were original, one appears to be off-shore with no markings; the other possibly American-made. I will have peace of mind on this total rebuild knowing the crankshaft bearing are new and of good quality. That engine has most likely been abus...

Re: Shielded crankshaft bearings
Thanks BigMike. After looking at the design of the 'housing', I noticed that a machined groove spans more than the width of the bearing. To me, that implies that oil is meant to go through the bearing, and then return towards inside of block through that groove. Leaving a shield on the outer side of...

Shielded crankshaft bearings
Hi all, A question from a newb to engine rebuilding... I bought two new bearings for the crankshaft. They originally came shielded on both sides, so I had the bearing house take one shield off. My thought was that the unshielded side would go towards the inside of the engine, where all the oil gets ...
