Re: Plowing and Weather

We have missed the big snows but got the moisture and then the big temp drops right after. Our ice is anywhere from 2-4" and blue. For the last few weeks I was trying with salt and sand but that would melt into the ice. The other day I went over to Aggregate Industries and bought four ton of 3/8" bl...

Re: Plowing and Weather

Plenty more rain here tonight and mor ethan enough frost for flooding. Not to far from my area is plenty of buildings under duress from snow load and water. It should be an interesteing news cast in the morning on the roof collapse subject. I sure hope this rain drains before it freezes. The lawn an...

Re: Bad Gas

Ya, my 5gal red containers fatten up to about 6. In the sunlight. I have also noticed some of the hot rod guys are buying 55gallon drums of the hot stuff. What is interesting what Frank says about temp. and what I said about boats storing large amounts as far as storing full is the fact that if the ...

Re: Bad Gas

Since I live out here in boaters world I can tell you this much. Many large fuel capacity boats (150-200) boats are stored chock full. Less capacity to evaporate. Marinas will not even fill older Bertrams unless the plastic tanks have been replaced. Marine mechanics are cleaning and maintaining the ...

Re: Bad Gas

The shelf life of all this gas is very short. Best answer is to make the cubs work. Even the "summer" duty machines get an hour a month burning condensation out of the sheds and then fresh fuel added after. I have never really heard a negative thing about stabil but I don't use it. I just go out of ...

Re: Plowing and Weather

It rained hard here today on top of 3" of snow. The ground is extremely cold so therefore water run off was at the maximum. Had to deal with two house where the water jumped the gutters and filled between the snow and house then relieved itself into the basement windows. It was inpart a big fire dri...

Plowing and Weather

As I look outside and see it drizzle after the mighty 3 inches of snow I figured I would ask some of you guys how goes the battle out west of here. Here being 2000 ft from the Atlatic Ocean on Cape Cloud. Ice will be tough tomorrow night. We will get mostly rain wed then the temps drop to the teens ...

Re: The Official Weather Thread!

Joe I here you on the ice thing. Snow is one thing but ice and frost are pretty abundent here. Temp will spike to 40 for rain and drop to twenty right after. The 123 with chains is the savior on the firewood, salt, and slush dept here.

Paul, you have my sand bar in the purple, is this thing favoring the easterly side as far as snow? 15miles west of me has been buried 3 times in four weeks while I pump basements and look at sand dunes erode into Cape Cod Bay. Give me some snow. The only thing white is beach sand getting sucked in b...

Re: Went to buy wheel weights and got this ...

I looked at my 123 seat and i cracked on day 2. I love that padded seat with no back rest. Northern tool has a shallow back seat that I will likely get. Then I am going to try my fiberglass skills on the other seat before it gets chucked. Well, time to drag the kids on the sled. Should be slick sinc...

Re: The Official Weather Thread!

Paul, what is the time of landing for that thing here on Cape Cod? This little storm last night I seemed to have creamed the wireing on the back of my truck with slush and other road debris. I have to start cutting and chipping 30 tall poplars around a new house in the morning. Then stump and grade....

MCamp, as I said there are some. Almost all my trucks have been 350s but none have been as good as in my 97. I wish I could go buy the exact same truck new. It must have been built at a happy place.

Re: Old trucks... lets see them!

My 97 Sierra 3500 w/5.7 vortec 5spd 2wd gets 14mpg empty, 12.5 with a 1ton payload towing the small hydroseeder and 9.5 with 9000lbs on the big trailer. I did that a bunch of times when I was doing a job up in New Hampshire. When I hauled my skid steer up there I did not bother with 5th since the tr...

Re: Old trucks... lets see them!

Just a quick rule of thumb on GM trucks, if they have only two headlights they don't have ice. At least on the pre 2000's. Tint the windows and break the speed limit.
