When checking valve clearance, make sure the tappets are NOT ramping up on the camshaft. This should be very easy to check since you have the engine out.

Hey guys, just a update I was told that the tappers have to be riding on the camshaft at all times. Is this true or not They are "tappets" and yes, they ride against the camshaft. They are only tight against when they are ramping up or down the lobe. At all other times, the correct valve lash gives...

Loren, There are plenty of causes for that knock. See if you can use a 1-2 micrometer to check the crank journal for out of round. A micrometer is a precision measuring instrument and requires a light touch for a correct reading ( meaning don't use it as a C clamp ). I just watched your video, you w...

.308 Savage I just got through putting together. Hope to be able to shoot effectively up to 800 yards, and maybe even 1,000 with it. Just gotta find a place to be able to shoot that far safely! :shock: What do you have for glass and do you reload? I do reload its a lot of fun too. Most of my rifles...

I think I will get a 60 gallon with 5 hp but you need a 220 outlet :roll: I don't think I have one but Can I get one and make it work. Jeff the plate where the gearbox is mounted in tight and the castle nut with cotter pin is also there. it just seems that there is play on the adjuster t handle I have put a big cotter pin on that handle to prevent it from getting loose but it does not work the best. I just purchased LH all thread ...

Need an extra 1/2-13 LH nut? :D

I think you're supposed to loosen the bracket, make the adjustment and tighten everything down. Is corrosion keeping the bolts from getting the adjustment plate tight? Is the cotter pin on the bottom of the 1/2-13 LH castle nut in place?
