Re: What does carburetor solenoid do?
Jess, that is all that I can find lately. I think I have bought and sold all of the older ones in 5 counties.. My 1535 does the same thing as far as backfiring. It also takes forever for it to stop spinning after it is shut off. Ken, it is hard to say where they started using the solenoid. My 2082 d...

Re: What does carburetor solenoid do?
Tom brings up some good points, but The main reason that it is there is to prevent backfiring when the engine is shut off. Against everything I had ever learned, if an engine has this solenoid, it should be turned off at half throttle or above so the remaining fuel can be blown thru the cylinders an...

Re: which front axle?
If you are building a loader, the Bolens qt17 qt19 front axle is very very heavy, and the support is a bolt in deal. I just happen to have one for sale if interested!!!
Doesn't solve the 5 bolt hub issue, but does make for a very wide, solid base.

Oh wow, was looking at it on my phone earlier, and I was so caught up in the electric starter I didn't see it was a recoil start. That makes it even cooler!

Re: My ugly 61 original
I wonder what that engine originally came from... looks like someone did a clean job on the retrofit. Also, what is the bracket in front of the transmission for? Nice to have the rear lift. I don't think it's ugly, just needs an update. Cool project, Nate. Keep us updated with pictures. We love pict...

Re: New to me 30 ton press. Any opinions on hydraulics?
I was reading the same thing on the oil level. Must be a common problem. I'm glad to hear it works well. I think that is the way that I am leaning. Wish they had a 30 ton for close to that price, but they don't even seem to make a 30 ton. I know looking online and on ebay, they seem to have the best...

Dave, I was at Wally World this evening picking up some paint for some Wheel Horse weights that I am spiffing up a bit, and I saw that Ivory. I thought to myself that it looked like it would be a darn close match for wheels, decks, weights , etc. Please let me know which one you like. I can tell you...

New to me 30 ton press. Any opinions on hydraulics?
Found this old press.. any ideas on hydraulics? Postby VScott » Thu Feb 12, 2015 8:39 pm Picked this up this past weekend. It will need some paint, but it doesn't appear to be tweaked or bent. I got it from a local scrapyard. It's hard for me to believe that someone would scrap it for .08 to .10 a p...

OK, Here we go... 1. I just got off of the phone with Kathy Perkins who is listed as an organizer of the 2015 RPRU. She gave me the name of a company that is used by the fairgrounds that issues policies specifically for events at the fairgrounds. The company name is Haas & Wilkerson. They are based ...

Dale, Thanks for the info. When I sold at rpru in 2012 in DuQuoin Il. There was none of this. Pay. park. sell. I have more than just a few parts to sell. so I would have no interest in a parts corral, and frankly I wouldn't let someone else sell my parts. I realize the way that was written suggested...

Ray, I wanted to share a couple of thoughts, and thank you for bringing the insurance issue to light. I normally don't pre-register for events of this nature, I usually just show up, but I will not be doing that here. This is copied from the vendor contract for RPRU 2015 • The vendor shall maintain ...

Re: Best way to remove PTO clutch ?
John, you aren't going to hurt the pistons using an impact wrench. This is the standard, accepted method for removing the bolt. If you have a long ratchet, and an extension, you can sometimes get it off, but what usually happens then is that you slip off and round the head of the bolt and cause WAAA...

We are supposed to get down to 12°tonight and this afternoon it's supposed to snow about 1 to 3". I put a pool in 3 years ago, and we haven't had a summer warm enough to ...

Haven't got to pull the foot pads yet, John. The panels and hood are really good, the grill shell has a small crack from front to back right in the center of the bottom rail under the grill. The mounting tabs seem to both be intact, and not cracked. I thought some of our newer members might want som...

So I'm at work this morning, and a co-worker that lives close to me says " hey did you see the Cub cadet for sale out by the electric plant?" Re: 1811 Starter
Paul, If you can hit it with carb cleaner, brake parts cleaner, or contact cleaner it might help as they dont leave an oily film. You want the shaft and bendix dry so it doesn't attract dirt. If you feel like you have to lube it, a dry graphite lube is the best option. Not an easy thing to gain acce...

Nice work, Tom. I haven't had to replace the starter on my 2182 yet, but I am in desperate need of a water pump, and I am on the trail of another 2182 that will need one. Not to hijack this thread, but have you had to replace yours yet? It looks relatively tight in there, and I'm wondering if there ...

I don't know yet, Tom. I have several nice hoods and a limited amount of good side panels. At this point, it is all going to come down to mechanical condition. I have not heard it run, neither did the previous owner. If the engine, trans, and steering all checks out as it should, yes I probably will...
