2013 Cub Cadet Collectors Plow Day

It's never too early to start planning Plow Day! I am looking for anyone who can gather up a door Prize or two and will keep a running tab here. For starters, I will have at least two large pistons to give away. No practical use but the cool factor is there. IMG_0636.JPG I will also have the connec...

Re: Waukesha Engines

Just cool stuff. You're putting out some hp when you see this... IMG_1001.JPG Serious backfire blew out the casting on the air intake. IMG_1016.JPG Had to change a couple heads pistons and liners yesterday. IMG_1028.JPG And yes, I will have at least two pistons for door prizes at Plow Day. Maybe a ...

Re: Waukesha Engines

Whatta month. I just spent the last three weeks working 7 days to convert 12 engines from regulator/stepper motor fuel control to digital air fuel ratio controllers. With my background in controls wiring, I helped do the install. Pretty cool stuff. Went from this on both banks. IMG_0941.JPG To this...

Vince, Thanks but I can't be in the same category as my brother. It's amazing to see people that have their life in order, things work. Paul, We used to see the same problem from guys new to trucking. Thinking they could just pump a gallon jug full of series III to use in their car. My Brother Rod in Field and Stream

My brother was nominated for one of the conservation hero's of Field and Stream. He made it to the top six in this October's issue. He warned me to be careful when talking to reporters, they kept asking him if he was a leader until he said I guess and now "it comes natural to him". 9-23-2012 9-57-5...

Jill wanted a gift

I was going out today and Jill said I was overdue getting her a gift. I was like, what? What kind of gift? She said "I don't know, something platinum would be nice..." So I bought her platinum when I stopped at NAPA. I came home, knelt down and opend the top of the box all dramatic like.... I'm sti...

Kenneth, Got to love the engineering on that but I sure hope he has the engines tied together tight or that manifold won't be long for this world. Cool stuff! Worked on the shop this weekend. You lay one thing where it shouldn't be and pretty soon it has company. Next thing you know your putting th...

Re: Beefing up the Cub Hauler

So, I have red bricks behind the shop to throw and old blue to run your ..... over! I'd have bought a Ford but the only ecoboost I could find was a crew cab with an 8' bed, won't fit in the garage (it was red though). Also, Ford is a little pricy. I like the 4.8L Chevy's though plus I got a deal on ...

All Done. Took about four hours of total work and if I had to do it again I know I could do it in three. Too many trips to the toolbox, now I know. Beefing up the Cub Hauler

Started last night on the Chevy. I am using this thing a lot for work and hauling parts fairly often. Six heads on the back add over 1300 pounds and I might put 600 miles on with that weight. So, first off I wanted to level the truck to raise the front a little. Mainly because I put 285/70R/17 tire...

IH Skid Steer

My neighbor has a cool little machine, an IH skid steer. Pretty sure it's an early 70's machine, I have to get the serial number next time I'm in his shed. I did tell him it would be prudent to keep his shed locked.... but it would be easy to track if it disappeared, just follow the tracks across t...

Well, I dug IT out of the shed. I had to reclaim the starter off the loader.
He hasn't been run since last August but fired right off old gas and all, gotta love that.
I'm going to take IT, 782 and the loader to the National Pike show this weekend.
I need a show.....

We had a couple spare parts from an overhaul we did so I took a piston and rod. I'm going to take it to Wyotech next week when I talk to the diesel class's about the gas fields. Then they're going in my shop because they are cool. Connecting rod is one heavy hunk o metal! IMG_0633.JPG IMG_0635.JPG

What a week. Evans City, PA (twice) and Beckley, WV Monday, Pineville, WV and Cadiz, OH Tuesday, off the 4th and Horseheads, NY yesterday then Mansfield, PA today.
Just under 1500 miles in 4 days.

And, what the heck is up with NY? How can anyone afford to buy gas there?
