Re: CCO pto
Geezer, that's the info I was thinking of. Thanks. Lew, never got the mail... and my email "should" be good on here. Paul, I was working on this last night some and it looks like the grill screen is just too close to work no matter how good you adjust the pto and parts. Maybe yours is cut out there ...

Re: CCO pto
Well I finally got a little time to paint the parts and start working on installation. Does anyone have the dimensions of where to mount the engaging handle and bracket on the right side of the dash pedestal? I know someone posted it once before on the old site a LONG time ago.

Re: Anyone ever see this hood spring before?
I actually remember reading a manual once that showed that spring as some kind of anti-rattle deal on the 102's. I've personally never seen one until now but remember all the info on it. There should be a tab under where the battery sits that holds the middle of the spring and keeps pressure on the ...

Re: 982 info
Thanks, that answers a lot for me. It's interesting, I was expecting it to be considerably quicker than a 682/782 given the bigger tires. I was thinking about going slightly bigger and more powerful for cutting grass next year (not that I need to), but the 982 doesn't sound too much better than a 78...

982 info
An inquiring mind has a few questions here. What's the maximum forward speed for the 982 and did IH make a pressed 60" deck for it like the 50" or is the belly mower the only 60" deck you can get?

Re: Solenoid or ignition
An easy way to rule out the solenoid is to see if the small wire has power getting to it when the key is in the "start" position. If there's power to the solenoid, the key is doing it's job and the solenoid is bad. If there's no power, the solenoid is not the problem and it's either the switch or a ...

Re: Farmall Cub
I've been cutting grass with a 67 Cub Lo-Boy and 59" mower for about 3 years now. Cubs really need to be tuned just right or they don't put out any power. Tuned right and they're respectable. If the grass is tall and thick and more suited to bush-hog, I wouldn't run the 59" mower through. It'll eith...

Re: Newest Find
haha gotcha Vince. I've been asked to be in a few parades/shows, but have zero interest. I painted it all and did the body work myself, so I can always fix it something does happen to it. I drive it to town a lot and about anywhere except college because people love to slam their doors into cars and...

Re: Newest Find
What do you mean Vince? It runs and drives and I take it anywhere you don't have to worry about idiots slamming their door into your car. It's actually about fully redone now minus seat recovering and rear shocks.

Re: Newest Find
Not a bad deal on it. This one was actually given to me because it's going off for iron (or was at least). I just happened to know what it was while they were cleaning up. It's all apart now and very fixable with some time. Does anyone have dimensions of the sleeve hitch bracket for the front. I'll ...

Re: Farmall M
Scott, If the battery is good, I don't know if it could be the generator. Just see if it's charging with the battery tester while running. My guess would be starter or battery, but I also had trouble figuring mine out, so I can easily be wrong. Also, depending on where you got that battery, we've ha...

That's perfect!!! Thanks a bunch. Funny thing is, I've taken 3 computer courses in college in the past, got 2 A's and an A+, and I couldn't get a picture resized right.

Getting closer trying to mess with the quality and size both. Almost there, it's just tiny. I'm humored by it, but think I know what to do now.

Re: Farmall M
Scott, turning over slow, just not firing off, or what? How old is the battery? I just bought a brand new battery for my M and it's fired right off everytime before it even gets to turn over fast. I still want to see about reducing the starter drive for more torque, but this is working 110% better r...

I can get the pixels down on pictures using photoshop, but the kilobytes are still around 17 or so (8 being the maximum allowed). They don't teach you the important stuff in computer courses

Newest Find
Well here's my newest diamond in the rough find. This and a 59M chipper are about the only 2 attachments I've really wanted and don't currently have. Definitely needs work, but could be WAY worse than it is. Has 4 or 5 seed plates too.

Re: Farmall M
John, That would make perfect since with the symptoms this has always had. Won't start in winter, turns over really fast, converted to 12V, etc. I'll look into that, even though this starter was just rebuilt. Thanks

Farmall M
I just had a flat tire and rusted through 14.9x38 rim on my M I had to take apart myself and it was NOT fun. It did get me interested in a few things though. I've always wanted to restore the tractor and might just start after Fall plowing and discing is done this year, but might fix a few things fi...

Re: How about?
I too liked the single large thread for Shooting the Breeze. With these new style forums, it' so much more clicking and trying to keep things straight. Then when people reply and a thread moves back to the top of new threads, it takes a little time to figure out what I've read and getting through ev...

Registry for serial numbers and homepage picture
Just a few things on my mind here. The old Registry had a homepage picture of people plowing. Is that possible to do here or even desired? Something maybe to the right of "Cub Cadet Collectors" up top? I was thinking that would set the site apart from the hundreds of other forums set up identical to...

Re: cub cadet original
Bob, That's hacked up pretty good for the steering. Poor tractor. To answer the question, it's NOT supposed to have a slot on that early of a tractor. Also, the battery box should not just be a flat plate, but should have sides on the left and right (not on the front). Might be easier to just get an...

CCO pto
Well, it's been on my mind for almost 2 years now and is falling together at just the right time with the return of the site. I've always had part of a front pto on my early CCO 950 recoil. Ray Weaver just happened to have the rest of the parts so I called him up and bought them AND DON'T HAVE TO MA...

Re: New arrivals since the crash of '10
Lew, That's all since the crash
I only added an early Cub Lo-Boy, finished up a 482 restoration, and added a parts cyclops tractor that became a motor donor. You win!!!! I did pass on a couple because I've been busy.

I'm gonna miss the old format, but IT'S GOOD TO BE HOME!!!!!!! I can't even try to catch up on what I and everyone else has done. That just means we have to do that much more Cubbin to make up for lost time
