Re: painting again

Most of the nice warm days this fall i had to take care of things at work so i did not get as much done as i had planed. I primed one 450 this afternoon, i need one more warm day to lay down the finish coat on this one. I think i could be done for the winter but we will see if the weather permits IM...

I dont blame u for wanting to stay stock ! Call me old, tired, or boring, seems to me whenever i get into a custom truck project be it a lift kit, engine swap, or axle change out one thing just keeps leading to another to another. Thats just me getting old i guess. Dave

Re: Overhaulin' a 50c deck

Jess, This one was nice, the rear wheel arm was never messed with but it did have a few hairline cracks that needed welding. U r right most i see have a ugly repair. I really think the factory bar that went up and over on the discharge end was a poor atempt at some sort of truss. I ran a 3/8 rod fro...

Re: Ethanol problems

Just wondering about this "pure" gas. It is sunoco 260 gtx. There is some data behind it and not sure what it means, octane R+M/2 =98 , research octane =103 , motor octane =93 , can anyone clear up the octane ratings ? I picked up a big bottle ($22) of the marine grade sta-bil as this said it has a ...

IMG_1173.JPG Not on this deck, i dont think i have seen these decals for sale. They r a pain to work around, sandblasting i mask it off about an inch bigger then hand sand up to it, then i use thin painters tape with an exacto knife. It takes a while. I see yours r gone but if u do any in the futur...

Re: Overhaulin' a 50c deck

a few more things i did to the 44 were to add plates on the inside under the rear hangers as this is a real weak spot. I also ran a 3/8 inch rod all the way around the bottom edge of the deck welded every 3" or so. Then also with 3/8 rod on the discharge side connected the front and back wheel on th...

Re: Overhaulin' a 50c deck

Steve, Welcome. Last winter i fixed up or restored two mower decks, a 60" haban and a 44 c and i did just what u mentioned, i used grease on every surface where two things touched. On the 44, the stiffening or spindle plate sat pretty flat but i did add one through bolt to pull down a slight high sp...

Ethanol problems

I have heard over the last couple of yrs about some of the ethanol problems but never did any more than use sta-bil in the winter. Last night i had a friend over and we went out to the shop and looked at a few of the new toys. I was telling him about the one snow blower that i removed about 8 oz of ...

Yea Tom i got out the manual today to see exactly what u r doing here. It does look pretty straight forward although the removing of the expansion plug looks fun.... :x . Thanks Todd that is a very good link and a lot to take in. My father had a bota 12 hp 2 cylinder that was a hard starter, luckly he did not use it in winter or he would have been out of luck. My experience has been more in the constuction field, backhoes, loaders, trucks and some farm tractors. Like...

Guys im just having fun here and dont claim to know it all. Just for discussion. Dont u want an explosion in the combustion chamber, that is where the glow plugs r on this tractor. Re: 2182-2: "An Incredible Cinderella Story..."

I havent had a rear apart like this eather, is there a pinion bearing also in the adapter housing or just the clip. I would think that would have two bearings on the pinion, one in the rear and one on the adapter. I was wondering if u could prop the pinion from moving while u do this work but i know...
